Ok, bought King Kong and Chicken Little this past weekend:

King Kong: a loooong movie, but keeps you interested. Very well done, I like the way it adhered to the original. Cinematography and effects were very good.

Chicken Little: This was a surprise, I thought it would be like most recent animated features (boring) but I really enjoyed it. Neat movie, maybe not a buy, but definitely rent it.

Just watched Kong last night.
Actually the Wife, kids and I watched the original Sunday night and the new one last night.
It was fun to compare the two back to back.
The new one did hold pretty close to the old one. ALthough it was 3 hours long it never got boring.

I am sure we will get Chicken Little soon since the kids really want to see it.

Thanks for the quickie Steve.

It's not funny if you have to explain it.

Good news on Chicken - I have a feeling I'll be stuck seeing that this weekend.

Chicken Little was very well done! Kept you laughing for quite a while. The pig made the movie! You won't feel like you wasted your time at all, and besides, it is really short too. Just over 90mins i think. Anyone can waste that much time.

Enjoy!

Edit for spelling :)

I almost fell asleep the first 80minutes of Kong. Jack Black made me feel like the movie was going to turn into a comedy any minute. I think this was a very bad choice in actors. After the first 80min, the movie is very quick paced and enjoyable.

Well I will have to place Chicken Little in my queue. :)

They definitely could have trimmed this movie down some. It was a little bit of a slow starter..

Kong was a terrible movie, IMO. Too long and boring. Bad choice of actors and ho-hum writing. I FF'd through it after the first 30 boring minutes. The CG for the big gorrilla was better than I expected, though.

I kinda have the same opinion. For me its almost like too much action was boring. First The villagers, then Kong, then the dinosaurs, then the raptors, then the T-rexes, then Kong vs the T-rexes, then the big bugs, then the big bats, then the... It was kinda redundant action.

Also the special effects were range-y. At some times I was like 'wow, that is a realistic monkey and scenery' and sometimes it was just plain bad and cartoon-y. You really need to suspend disbelief for some parts of the movie too. Overall they coulda trimmed a good 45 min off the movie and still have it be well done and fast paced.

I really enjoyed Kong, not as much as the original but almost. I loved the first 30 minutes, the way they set the story and took their time, made the whole rest of the movie that much better. I watched that part twice just to make to sure I got it all. Then when Kong made his entrance it was cool and the natives were so mean, killing everbody and all that. Kong is cool.

I have watched CL four times now, my grandson loves it and insists "popi" watch it with him, its cool though, we chat through it a bit.

+1

Me and the wife went to see it and at no point was I ever bored. In fact, it hadn't been since Jurassic Park (and maybe War of the Worlds, now that I think about it), that I had been so thoroughly engrossed in a movie. I thought the natives were awesome, and kind of had their own "wow factor" sans the CGI, esp. the scene where they were pole-vaulting across the rocks to get to the ship. Old New York looked amazing with its sepia overtones, and each action scene kept builing upon the other in a relentless way that was always creative. Yeah, maybe CGI is a lazy man's retreat in a lot of films, but when you have two dinos dangling in vines, while Kong is simultaneously fighting and trying to save the damsel -- you have a good imagination at work.
Not just a big ape sucker punching an even bigger lizard.
