Are these things 8 or 4 ohms? Is there any factory literature available?

Thanks, I guess I didn't read down the search results list far enough.

No worries. Polk has a section for some of their vintage gear that is a tad off the beaten path if you are unfamiliar. The 12's are a nice speaker. Have you recently acquired a pair.

Yes, I won an Ebay auction and drove 900 miles round trip to get them here. I probably paid too much but they sound great and have helped fullfill a life long dream of mine..which was to own a pair of Polks like the two guys in the dorm room next to mine back in '78. They had two pairs actually...monitor 10's I think powered by a Yamaha "natural sound" receiver w/ 80 watts per channel. Man, did that sound good...and yes, we inhaled:cool: Sorry, I"ve been holding that in for quite sometime. Anyway, I've spent the day "bathing" the grills and "scrubbing" the cabinets trying to get the smoke residue off. Tide with Downy worked well on the grills. I'm driving them with an Onkyo receiver for now (100X2). Appartment livin' is killin' me.

Very nice and congratulations. I drove my first Polk monitor 10B's with a Yamaha R-7 at about 75 or 80 W/ch. They didn't sound bad at all. I have slowly over time been working up the ladder. I hope one day to own the SDA 2.3TL's but am more than satisfied with my SDA1-C's for the time being.
Glad to hear the TLC on the 12's. You should enjoy them thoroughly. This is a great forum for information on all the Polk spaeaker lines, as well as some other high end speakers, and all manner of amplification and other components. Glad you found it.
Cheers...Brian
