SVS vs HSU vs Velodyne

Depending on price and clean bass quality I'm thinking of going with 2 subs. Which sub is the best for that?

The SVS PB12-Ultra/2, the HSU VTF-3 MK2, or the Velodyne SPL-1000R?

Hey is Infinity speakers any good? My Dad has Infinity fronts and center and I really think they sound like shit personally, but he has the low level stuff. What about they're real good stuff do they sound good? Or should a man just stick with Polk Audio speakers all the way around?

Guys don't get mad at me cuz I'm always changing my mind, that's just me. I'm trying to find out FOR ME which is THE BEST system to get.

I just found out last night that I'll have a room about 12-16 feet wide and the length of my whole house which is like 40 feet long or something like that.

So I got the room, I really do, if I can get you PRO's to help me out and not get mad at me everytime I change my mind or think something might sound better than this or that. Remember I'm just a rookie and don't know nearly what y'all know.

Plus another thing I just live in lil old Charleston West Virginia where all you have here for Home Theater is Polk Audio, Paradigm, Boston Acoustic, Bose and Infinity.

So please just try to bear with me cause a lot of these brands of speakers I've never even heard of. So put yourself in my shoes when people's telling you that something you've never heard or heard of is what you wanna get. It's just a lot of money to play with when you have no idea how it's gonna turn out.

Out of those 3, I think the PB12U/2 is going to give you the most output and extension. However, it is the MOST expensive of the 3 by a longshot.

I dunno about going with 2 PB12 ultras. There have been a lot of comments on Audiogon where people were selling off their second one because two in one room was just too much sub.

SVS subs are plenty good. two in most cases would be over kill. even in a large room. you have to experince one to know for sure. start with one. later add a second if it's not enough boom for ya.

My room is 12 X 42!:eek: and the SVS PB12/Ultra 2 fills it nicely.

I didnt say 2.. I said a single PB12U/2. I think that's what he meant too. I think he meant either 2 of the other ones or 1 ultra/2.

Yeah I do want my music just as much if not more than my theater. But I also like Velodyne a whole hell of a lot. I know if I got a Velodyne I wouldn't have to get 2 but what about the HSU subs. Could I get 2 HSU subs and not be overpowered?

Overpwered? Never, not if you calibrate it. Also, the ultra driver is as musical, if not more so than the HSU. The + driver vs HSU is a wash and the ISD is lesser than HSU

Ditto on the SVS's "musicality"... simply not an issue.
