Hey guys...first off I love my SVS PB12/U2 BUT......I don't know if it's me or my room but I am extremely sensitive to bass localization. Even with a flat response via the Velodyne SMS-1 EQ. My SVS is in the best possible position right now for available space vs response but I was wondering if it might be worth the while to add a second sub in the front left corner behind the LF LSI15. I am not about to get another PB12 as it is WAY too large and expensive so I was wondering if there may be a smaller sub that might go nicely here..or am I just insane?

If you are running 15's, you should have the PB passed around 40Hz, no? If you can localize that, you've got a special gift broham.

I have it at 60 actually...and yes my ears are crazy. I am one of those weird people that can hear that high pitch that TVs make ..even with the sound turned off. I guess I have to thank Oscar Goldman for that....:p

Do I lose anything if I cross it at 40???? I have tried that but I was always worried that I would miss some bass info. I know the 15s have a lower db of 35 or so but what about the 9 and the LSI Fxs ...?????

I have to assume he meant cross over your fronts at 40hz and all other speakers at 60hz. (If available on your preamp) 40hz is to low a crossover for your 9 and Fx's.

Another option is to get 2 pc-ultra subs (box or tube - whatever fits for you best) and sell your Ultra2.

Do you have any options for an IB sub? (any closets or other rooms that you can use for the backwave of the sub) If so, that may be your best option. (and cheapest while keeping good bass). If you are thinking of moving soon though - that would kill that idea.....

Unfortunately my pre only has an option for a single crossover. Is bass info that low sent to the center and surrounds?

Are you sure that what you are hearing really is bass localization and not just bass frequencies resonating off of objects near the sub?

I am not clear on how you think adding a second sub will help you.

I had the same problem with mine and was able to tame it by using the phase control. xing over at 40 tighened things right up too and when we watch movies I just bump the cross over back over to 60. thanks for cross over info everyone.
