View Full Version : Seemingly blown 10" SUB - REPAIR/TEST??

I posted before about my 10" MOMO and how I suspected it was blown. I took it out of the box tonight and I tested it out as best I could (by playing it outside/inside the box and listening to it close up) and it does really seem to be blown. It produces strong bass but it also really buzzes when it hits the right frequencies and/or the juice going to it is brought up beyond 50% or so. Buzzing, vibrating... whatever you want to call it, it doesn't sound good.

In any case, what I'm wondering about is this: can the speaker be repaired? Will Polk take it back to check it over to see if it's "repairable"? In the back of my mind I've been wondering if somehow my amplifier is causing the sub to sound bad (don't think so but I want to eliminate anything other than the sub itself).

it does sound like a piece of paper (from past experience in hearing it) rubbing or flapping/vibrating rapidly. I just assumed that it was blown and already ordered a brand new one (at a real good price) from eBay.

Thanks,
