I just played Pitfall on Gametap the other day....and still lost miserably. I thought as one got older, we could master those simple games? :D

Yeah, I have been playing Joust on the 360, I hate that game so much! :( It's frustrating.

Lately I have been hooked on the 460 version of Zuma, I love that game. I can't get passed the last level in zone 5.

I'm waiting for Dead Rising to be released before I buy another game for the 360. That game looks amazingly fun, and I had my eye on it before they released the console.

I likely will be getting about half of those arcade releases.

Joust was the BOMB!! Loved killin' that huge pterodactyl thingy. But you are right, very frustrating at times.. but well worth the sweat and tears IMO.

I remember playing that game. It was one of the earlier multi-player arcade games. We used to head down to the local arcade with a roll of quarters each. Here's a link to the game:

Anyone remember a game called Rolling Thunder? (I remember this game being next to Gauntlet) The enemies used to make a funny barking noise when shot..

Here is the home page: http://www.klov.com/

I had posted this link a while ago, reposting for those who missed it. A great site dealing with the history of arcade games.

Have you guys thought about the Revolution for retro-gaming? Man, I'm excited for it, it's gonna have NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis and the Turbo-Graphx games. Now if that isn't cool I don't know what is. Alright I'm done being a Nintendo-Whore ;)

The only problem with that is the old 8-bit games on HD televisions don't look too swell. Much more effective (but more expensive) to build an arcade cab with a Wells monitor and use emulators (as long as you own the original games ;) )

I just read on another site that Live Arcade was about to have a major jump in titles(not a few hundred but a few thousand). It looks like they are going to make a legal version of MAME where the developers get a cut of the money. This is all just a rumor though, so we'll see.

check it out:

I am pretty skeptical on that one. Not impossible, but part of me is screaming shananigans.

Yeah I hear you. Its just a rumor right now, but this news is really spreading. I have found it on three different websites now.

Any game that features Odin's handmaiden who conducted the souls of the slain to Valhalla, is OK in my book.

These words are permanently embedded in my brain.

"The Warrior is about to die."
"The Valkyrie needs food."

The game Ill always remember was One on One for the Commodore 64. It was Dr J vs Larry Bird.

Id been playing Atari 2600 for a while and was used to it but one day I went over to my uncles and noticed he had a "typewriter" on his desk. He said he had to show me something and slapped in this huge floppy disc and typed load"*",8,1 (I cant believe I still remember that) and up came the most amazing game Id ever seen! I couldnt believe the graphics! I was sure this was the pinnacle of gaming!

LOL :D

Mike - Thanks....awesome link! There was a game that came out around the time of Dragon's Lair/Space Ace....but you were a Japanese Anime kind of guy on a mission or something. It was the exact same type of game, where the scene flashes and you have to choose the route really quick.....ring a bell?

That is a great game. I love all the old laserdisc games. The daphne emulator does them perfectly on the PC. If you want the images, pm me and I'll mail the disks to ya.

okay.. here's another one that i've been trying to remember the name of for years...
It was an anime Western/horror game that took place in the Old Japanese West (whatever:D ....).
Anyway, there wasn't even a joystick... just a single button to fire your gun, and each scene basically posed a "shoot/don't shoot" scenario. An example would be some maiden running out of a saloon beggin' for you to help her, and if you didn't press the button, she would morph into a cowboy werewolf (or something) and kill you. Next time, you would know to "cap her fair arse" so you could go to the next scene ala Dragon's Lair. Of course, you would lose a life if you fired at her, and she had been innocent...
Anyone remember this gem?
