LSi25s owners, the amp plate on the left speaker is warmer than the right speaker?

Hi LSi25s owners,

Does your amp plate on the left speaker is warmer than the right speaker when the speakers are off overnight?

I also notice there is no lugs nut again on the LSi25 post.

I had this problem when I first got my speakers and I returned and they shipped me new one and it's having the same problem. Yes, I bought these from an authorized dealer.

That's a pretty unusual set of circumstances to have happen. How are you powering the bass amplifiers in each speaker? In other words, is one speaker plugged into a surge protector or AC line filter and the other one's not. Also, is the LED going from green to red after there's no audio signal coming into the speaker for around 15 minutes?
The second part of your question, when you say lugs, do you mean the speaker binding post nuts?

Hi Ken,

Both of my LSi25s' power cords are plugged to the power outlet. The LED always green. I think I spoke to you this morning and you told me to call Art. I spoke to Art about the amp plate on left speaker is warm when idle. He suggested to give few more day and if it's getting warmer or really hot then call him again. If it's just warm then that might be normal. He said no customer report about this problem on the LSi25s.

About the second part, I meant the plastic plugs inserted that you have to take them out before you plug the banana speaker cables. They have the plastic plugs inserted on the LSi15, LSi9, LSiFX, LSiC.

Page #2 of the LSi25Manual.pdf:

To Use Banana Plugs (US Only): Unscrew the binding post lug nuts completely to expose the
binding post plugs (plastic plugs inserted into the binding posts). Carefully pry out the binding post
plugs to expose banana plug holes. Screw the lug nuts back on the binding posts and insert banana
plugs. (This is for US owners only.)

Thanks for the additional information, it wasn't me that you talked with, probably Kim or Eric. One thing to check, make sure you have the "auto/on/off" switch in the correct position for "auto" operation. There is some reason the LED isn't going to red.
As to the binding post inserts I might be able to offer an explanation. Those inserts are necessary to satisfy export requirements. In some countries the AC power cords that are used could be accidentally plugged into a standard banana plug post. So, the inserts are put there so that someone couldn't plug their AC power cord where it shouldn't belong. In the case of the LSi25 bass amplifier it is produced in a different version, export, that does have the plastic inserts. Your unit is the domestic version that wouldn't require the inserts. In either case they can be left in or taken out depending upon how you connect the bass amplifier to your system.

I think I spoke to Kim. Thanks for a quick response and an explanation about the plastic plugs.

Both of my LSi25s' power switch position are set to "auto". Here is my understanding about the power switch control and please correct me I'm wrong:
auto: switch postion on the bottom
off: switch positon in middle or center
on: switch poistion on the top

The speakers are working fine, I'm only curious why the left speaker's amp plate is warm when idle (off position). This is the second one that I got. I kinda hoping someone out there is experiencing the same problem and that is normal. I love the LSi25s, the sound is so real and I hate keep shipping them back and forth to Polk Audio.

The amplifier on my left Lsi 25 is warm to hot when not in use. I have both switches set to auto. The right speaker is much cooler when speakers have been sitting. I have the jumpers attaching bottom lugs to the top lugs.
The speakers sound fine, I hope this is not a problem.

If I left my speakers idle for two days then the left speaker is not warm.

I don't think I have ever not used them for two days. I don't remember it always being warm before either. I recently changed the setup from the top hooked to the receiver, the bottom hooked to lfe out with no jumpers between terminals to output of amp to top lugs with jumpers from top to bottom terminals. I don't know if the issue started with the setup change or not but I might try different hookups and see. If Polk is listening is this a problem?(Left amp warm when not on)

Hello,

I too hope that this is not a problem. I've been checking the left heat sink of my LSi25s and yes the left one is considerablely warmer than the right. This is first thing in the morning, after being idle all night. I too have the power switch to auto on both the right and left speaker.

Checking it again it(back of left speaker) is not warm after sitting all night. It must be some noise or line transients keeping the speaker amp on from time to time. No problem with the sound ever. Sounds like maybe a job for a power conditioner.
