Subwoofer hook up: Preouts vs. A&B vs. Left and Right

Which is the best way? 1)Preout to sub. 2)Front L & R to sub then to front L & R speakers. or 3)Speaker A to front L & R and Speaker B to Sub and turn both A and B on at the same time. Could someone offer advice please?

Kenwood VR-7080 THX Receiver with a pair of full size three way Kenwood JL996 fronts and a Yamaha YST-SW215 12Watt powered sub. I will be upgrading around Christmas but this is it for now
