I was going to mount an FXi5 on the wall in my media room but my wife does not like it at all, i want to put an in wall speaker but there is not enough space in the wall. We want to build a box un:confused: the wall where the fxi5 would have been and put a TC65i in the box. since the TC65i is 12 3/4(h) x 7 1/4 (w) and requires 2 3/4 (d). what size enclosure (box) do we need to build to attach to the wall for the speaker without affecting the sound

Hello,
The TCi series were designed as an "infinite baffle" type speaker, meaning that all that has to happen is that the rear sound wave needs to be isolated from the front sound wave. There isn't a specific rear enclosure that is needed, being placed in a wall accomplishes what the speaker is supposed to have. If the speaker has to be placed in an enclosure try and make the internal volume as large as possible, working to duplicate what wall placement does. I suppose any enclosure greater than .5 cubic feet will be fine.

Hello,
If the goal is .5 cubic feet that would equal 864 cubic inches. The enclosure you mentioned would be 312 cubic inches, too small. The bass response would be adversly effected. You would need to make the depth dimension 8.3" to get the necessary 864 cubic inches. This is assuming you are meaning the three inside dimensions, of the enclosure, as opposed to the outside measurements.
