I am willing to put out $200 dollars for a sub. I already know what amp I will be getting. It is the Profile AP1200 (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-1jYCAbXBCKw/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=489AP1200&s=0&cc=01). This amp is a two channel amp that is 200wattsx2 @4ohms. Bridged it can do 600 watts x1 @4ohms. I was looking into getting the Polk MM 2124 or the Kicker Comp VR 05CVR122. This 12" kicker sub is a dual 2ohm sub which would work with my amp.

I really need to know which is the best sub for me. I want really loud bass that has good clarity and precision, too. Help me!

If you know of a better sub, please tell me what it is.

The 2124 is the better sub but be careful with the gains and volume as 600 is a little much for that 12.

If I turn down the power going to the sub to about 2/3 giving it 400 watts, would it be okay to mess around with the gain a little more?

At that price range you could be looking at a Soundsplinter RL-p12. It is a little more, but that sub is in a totally higher league than the subs you mentioned, plus it can take the full power of that amp all day long.

Where could I find the soundsplinter subs for the cheapest price? and what type of bass could I expect from them compared to the momo 12

You could find the sub through the links I provided. Like I said, when you move up to that sub you are in a whole other league. The SS will get substantially louder and still be able to play very clean bass.

I have changed my mind. I am going with the polk db212-2 and a kenwood amp that has 800watts @ 2ohms. This should have massive bass. I have heard them in cars at school and they give you headaches as they pass by you : ).

If that is what you are after......

Just remember to practice safe volume levels for you ears ;).
