I may or may not have something freaky going on in my set up.
A few months ago I moved my rig to another room just to see how it sounded. I calibrated the speakers with an SPL meter and oddly my test tones required me to bump up the settings in my Sherwood Pre. A lot. Like from -1 or -2 on the fronts to +5 or so for example. I chalked it up to the room so I just shrugged it off.
I did not like the sound in there so I moved every back to where it was and recalibrated fully expecting my settings to go back to normal. To my surprise the SPL meter was still having me set every thing just as high as the other room. I tried a different Spl meter to see if maybe mine was broken. Same new high readings.
Now with my new Von Schweikerts everything is about as hot as they were with the Polks and my center is now even at +7. All calibrations were done setting my master volume to 0 and calibrating to 75 with the SPL.
I didn't really worry before because everything seems fine but it's just a little weird to have to suddenly set everything so high to calibrate my speakers to reference level with no apparent reason when I was calibrating them before exactly the same way and getting settings in the negative area on my Pre. Any thoughts, theories, ideas?
