Universal is planning on releasing 2 Moody Blues SACD's (currently there are 5 released in Europe), so maybe the rest are coming to the States. http://www.highfidelityreview.com/news/news.asp?newsnumber=12690123
Sony is showing even more support for SACD.
"Blu-Ray Disc and Super Audio CD Support
Another interesting question that the Blu-Ray launch raises is whether Sony thinks that Super Audio CD (SA-CD) and Direct Stream Digital (DSD) have a future. At the show, Sony officials noted that the audio output on their new STR DG-1000 receiver is actually marked not "CD" but rather "SA-CD/CD" as one clue to their thinking along with their recent enhancement to the SACD mastering format. I also heard once again that the Super Audio CD playback feature as well as Blu-Ray Disc playback both continue to be part of the feature package for the upcoming Sony Playstation 3 product due out this November. And I was told that SACD playback was coming to a future edition of the Blu-Ray hardware platform. So this will be an interesting area to watch."

According to Kal Rubinson of Stereophile, this receiver will have HDMI v1.2 inputs, meaning digital transmission of SACD, and will have a MSRP of $800. I think new Sony SACD hardware will debut later this year....towards August.
As for the new Moody Blues SACDs for the US, I hope this is a sign that Universal is considering more pop/rock SACD titles for release domestically. OTOH, why not all 5 Moody Blues SACD titles for the US?
For even more SACD news, here's Telarc with its updated SACD release schedule (http://www.highfidelityreview.com/news/news.asp?newsnumber=19001137)

It would be even better news when they start releasing Pop/Rock SACD's! This is the only reason why both formats haven't taken off!
Enough with the classical crap!

It would be nice if they realized that SACD fans are not all 100 years old....maybe Jesse, but he's got a young brain.

You do understand that BluRay is an video based format and that SACD is an audio based format, right?

You should get BS&T SACD, their first album, of course it features a 2 ch. track to die for as in When I die and when I'm gone, Jesse will still be kickin and goin on....................
not a new release, but I think BS&T 3 was released not so long ago.

There are 2 versions of BS&T first album....the original Sony single-layer stereo SACD and the later Mobile Fidelity remastered stereo hybrid SACD.
BS&T self-titled album on Sony single-layer stereo SACD (http://www.sa-cd.net/showtitle/625)
BS&T self-titled album remastered by Mobile Fidelity (http://www.sa-cd.net/showtitle/3294)
I don't know if the Mo-Fi SACD improves upon the Sony. The Sony is very good but it's definitely going out-of-print.

In any event it looks like the bean counters at Sony have lost out for now to the music engineering/marketing department Guru's. Somebody still feels its about the music and delivering a quality product. I would like to see them flex a bit and tell the box stores they have to carry a selection of SACD in order to have their product lines.

High resolution for a lot of that junk would be counterproductive so THERE!

better yet- just make all future discs SA-CD hybrids. I mean really- how hard is that?!? This should've taken place 6years ago. I'd be happy to pay the $3.00 premium, as would most others once they were able to experience the technology. For those who like to burn mp3's - fine. Don't cater to them.
The premise of Dualdisc and DVD-A make no sense at all. When I buy a music disc, I want to listen to the music. Not stare at the TV like a zombie and have the music as a sidekick.

Hey I'm not talking about what passes for rock & roll today! But I would just about kill to have the entire Eagles catalog transferred to hi res! As well as Queen, & other terrific R&R's of the 60's & 70's!

Agreed. I sent Universal an email asking if they plan on releasing the rest of the Steely Dan catalog that they promised us long ago. No response as of this date.

aaharvel--For a while I simply did not understand why every cd was not released with a high rez track, two channel is all I need, then I heard something about the artists or something/somebody wanting extra or another royalty for the high rez track?? I would really like some Chicago as well as the Steeley Dan some Doobie Bros, even some Ozzie would be cool, hell throw in Alice Cooper for that matter. Just glad to see Sony stepping up.
We need to follow up F1nut, who did you write to Jesse?????
Right now I am pretty much SACD or Vinyl, got that vinyl rig going so well I can move between the two without a dip in SQ, they are different but both excellent.

You didn't pick up Ozzy on this SACD (http://www.sa-cd.net/showtitle/718)? You even get Kelly Osborne on the disc :D
The Doobie Brothers and Chicago are on Warner Music labels, thus no SACD for them. However, they are on DVD-A. Warner Music is in talks with EMI for a possible merger/buyout, so this situation may change.
Regarding the extra royalties issue, that came to light when Sony tried to release Beyonce's debut solo album on multi-channel hybrid SACD in the US. However, the producers of the albums want royalty for each version of the album on the disc....one for the CD layer, one for the stereo hi-rez, and one for the multi-channel hi-rez version. Sony wanted to pay one fee for that one disc and decided against releasing the SACD in this country. You can read about the Beyonce SACD (http://www.highfidelityreview.com/news/news.asp?newsnumber=12618871) in this link.
Another reason why they can't issue every CD as a hybrid is the lack of production capability. I believe there're only 2 SACD plants in the US....Sony in Indiana and Crest National in California. Which was the reason why the Peter Gabriel and The Police SACDs were single-layer SACD in the US and hybrids everywhere else on the planet.
