Ok ,
I got my cable bill this month and it was 245.35 for 1 month service. Which also included a UFC pay per view. My last month bill was 135.45 for the month which didn't have any pay per view charges.

Alittle over a month ago, my standard service went offline.I called Comcast and they told me I haven't been paying for that service and they audited everyone and turned off services that people where not paying for.Ok but I ordered High Def, HBO, Cinemax, and all basic cable ditigal channels when I signed up 3 years ago. I also get a cable modem/service which has been apart of my cable service.

After all this madness, my bill per month is now going to be 151.38. I asked about a cable price increase and they told me there was no change but my bill has gone up alot. Needless to say I'm not very happy with Comcast right now.

I'm considering going back to Direct tv. They do have a new dish which is ugly as hell. I stil have a tripple LNB on my house from when I had HD DSS Tivo service. I had 2 receivers then which with cable I don't need more then 1 for now, I have straight runs to other tv's in the house for just 4:3 standard watching.

Who has the current DSS service and hows the HD doing? When I had both, I liked the Comcast HD picture quality better which was one deciding factor in why I switched to Comcast. I lost Tivo service and got DVR service which I don't think is as good as tivo. Direct Tv no longer has Tivo service and offers DVR service. I wonder how good this new service is compared to Tivo. Cable is suppost to get Tivo which my family and myself miss. I perfer to have tivo over Comcast DVR. But I don't want DVR suck ass service is thats what it is with DSS. I have no Idea what to do and seek advise from other users. We Tweeter don't get involved with DSS anymore so I don't really get to see whats going on. just about all my customers all have Cable service. A few have DSS but they have the older HD10250 Tivo HD box. I have not seen the new HD DVR receiver from Direct tv.

Help a tv brother out and guide me to the light.

Drop everything. Then wait a month and see what Comcast's promotion is for new subscribers.

I have exactly the same plan as you. Digital cable, HD, HBO, Cinemax, HBO, and DVR service with internet and my bill is around $150 a month. I have had absolute NIGHTMARES dealing with Comcast. When they installed my cable at my new place the threw in all these random charges which I had to fight for them to remove. My advice is read your bill very carefully and call them up asking about any charges that don't look right and DO NOT be afraid to fight them. I truly feel the company is run by a bunch of monkeys. When my bills are correct and my service is running at 100% I can't really complain but sometimes that synapse in their brain blows out of their skull.

The more I deal with comcast the more I believe your right. 150.00 per month is getting up there. Good service??? well I think it's good, I don't like the DVR service. I used to have Tivo and nothing works better. My box which is now my 3rd DVR HD box likes to freeze up. I have to unplug it and reboot in order for it to continue to work correclty. I think it's a design flaw now on it's 2nd generation of DVR, I have the HDMI 6412 unit and it's no better then the DVI unit. I thought it was going to Impove on work ability, it didn't, I now only have to run a HDMI connection between my Tv and when I had DVI, I had to run analog audio for tv straight sound( I don't use the system all the time for surround).

I'm wondering if it will be worth going back to Direct Tv?? I don't like the idea of no Tivo.

If it wasn't for my wife I probably wouldn't have ANY t.v. in the house. I don't watch television anymore and I don't miss it. Give me my music and give me my bigscreen to watch movies and I'm happy.

I am now on my 2nd DVR box because the first one completely lost its ability to fast forward and rewind. I told them that I would come in and exchange my old one for the one and they sent a guy out! THEN they tried to charge me for a service call. You really have to watch them. As of recently though my HD channels are nice and clear (except no local ABC which is killing me), this DVR seems to be working just fine and my internet is at its full 8Mbps. So as far as actual cable service they get at least A thumb up for me but in regards to customer service they get two thumbs and some toes down.

I said 'a tv'. I have cable, and a tv. I just never use it. I prefer to download and watch the shows on my laptop when it is convenient. I was just mentioning it as an alternative. For example you can download shows from iTunes, or other places.

Good lawd, and I complain about an $84 cable/internet package. Sheesh.

Comcast...lol

I play about $140 myself...(the internet rocks, though)

When I first got the new digital box, I noticed that there were two pornos on the bill the next month. I called them to say I didn't order them (I was in Toronto..and my wife didn't order them..or did she?)

they wouldn't take them off...their system couldn't be wrong..finally I said, why would I PAY for that crap..I have the internet...I ended up having to write to the corporate office before they gave me a credit..I'm guessing it was from the previous owner of that box..

Id dump em and go with the dish. My pop has Direct TV and its worked just fine for years and the price is very reasonable.

The only downside is every time a storm blows thru and you lose the signal.

Ive had Comcast for 3 years with their cable internet service and thus far have had zero problems out of them and I pay about $120 for digital cable, cable internet with no HBO or anything (except during Sopranos season) but if they do get crazy with price increases, Ill be going with the dish in a heartbeat!

It'll be closer to a c-note once you get that HDTV and upgrade your service accordingly.

Yep, HDTV, Premium Channels, and DVR service is what jacks your bill up. I prefer cable over Dish for obvious reasons and it's still much cheaper around here. Not sure how it is elsewhere.

mutelight

Yeah the price is jacked mainly because the digital cable tier is so overpriced. Its only $9.99 for HD service with a HD DVR which is better then spending $300+ for an HD DVR for satallite service.

...all this and there STILL isn't anything really worth watching.

I do like watching the History Channel though. I can't watch Japan lose WWII enough.

Sorry to report this HR10-250 TiVo HD recorder will be replaced with a non TiVo recorder. So this info upsets me also and I'm confused on what to do my self, I wish DirecTV goes to H when HR10-250 is forced to be replaced. Not having one now makes me wonder what too do, DTV Cable DishNet? what.

Comcast is getting tivo service from what I here. They are doing away with there Dvr service and replacing it with the real thing. Direct tv lost tivo somehow to cable and is replacing it with there version of DVR service. I don't know if it's anywhere near as good as Tivo but Comcast failed in there attempt at it.

I'm just pissed at the way they raised my bill. I'm pissed at paying so much a month for tv service and Intranet. I'm considering changing.

Sorry for the cable woes Dan.

We are getting Time Warner installed tomorrow. We have lived with the antenna in the attic/outside for three years now. The only reason it is being added is for HD demonstrations, although I just figured out that I can get most of those stations in HD OTA anyway. I guess the Discovery HD will be worth the $35/month for a year :)
