I think if I lived in Florida I'd just build myself an underground cave with some plexiglass ceiling windows to the outside world.

I don't get the interest in living in a place where these types of storms occur like clockwork. Seems like more trouble than it's worth IMO.

Its the 6 months of the year that are nice that keeps ya here i guess.. and family, being here 26 years of your life, alot of things that keep ya from moving away... Its stressful every year though

I moved to FLA in 1997. While Andrew was a bad one in the early 90's, there were never this many hurricanes. Once in while we would get one, most would not hit. The last 2 years are extraordinary. FL is still the fastest growing state and the most job growth. People are starting to leave more and more because of the hurricanes and the prices of housing.

Yes, the prices of houses is through the roof.. but if more people leave it will drop, Yeah i don't remember years ago ever thinking about hurricanes, or ever hearing of one besides the usual destructive ones.. ie: andrew or what not.. I love this state besides, nice weather.. almost year round beach or boat weather.. you can start a garden in feb if ya wanted to.. lots of attractions, and local... BUT this hurricane fad needs to end soon.. we still will never leave here, it's our home..

when your free as a bird you can move all over the US, but when you have a job, kids and schools... ya have to make due,

today is just real windy, NO rain, last night sucked with all the rain.. this thing hasnt even made land yet. I don't think
