Ok, so the Chinese bought 3 powered parachutes from me a few months back. Now they've received them and are paying my trip and expenses to go there and train them to fly.

Leaving Friday morning...Montreal to Chicago, Chicago to Tokyo (staying one night there) and then Tokyo to Beijing. The reverse trip leaves from Shanghai back to Tokyo/Chicago/Montreal back on the 28th.

Any suggestions on "must see" or "must do" while I'm there? Any audio stuff I should look at or listen to or look for?

Shanling, Sheng Ya, Ming Da are all supposedly very good manufacturers. You should be able to get it dirt cheap.

Good Luck and be safe.

I think one of those things that has a big prop a foot behind your spinal column whirling you around the sky with a big parachute above you......

Ya know........I'm in Chicago, and I have some free time coming up, so were they wanting an assistant to help out? :D

I couldn't afford to buy him one of those, but my brother and I did go in together last year to get him an iPod.

I think that my Mother would kick his ass before letting him own one.

Ahh, China. Been there three times. Mostly in the Hong Kong region and Mei Zhou (Guan Dong Providence) HK is amazing place. Only recommendations are, eat the food. Not the American food there, but the real Chinese food cooked on the street. Simply the best food you will ever eat in your life. Their noodles are amazing! America can't touch their cooking. You walk by and see them cooking on the street and when you look at it, you think no way in heaven will i eat that, but once you taste it... Wow.

Never been to Beijing, but I have a couple of buddies over there that say it's a great city. Check out the Forbidden palace is what they say. And of course the Great Wall. Quite the experience. Only man made object visible from space is what I have been told.

Keep us informed, and enjoy that plane ride over there ;) Usually they will have 2 or 3 good movies on flight.

Have fun, and take lots of pictures for memories. China is an awesome adventure.

Stay about 2 months in Shanghai. Very big eye opener on what true poverty is all about. Every tourist spot have women with kids sitting on the side of the road, the ladies would send their kids out to grab your leg until you gave them money, really sad. On the plus side the Chinese treat you extremely well, good food, awesome places to visit. Since I was only in Shanghai I cannot recommend places outside of there. Shanghai Zoo, Pearl Tower, river boat ride on the Yangtze. Have fun.

Mr. Nightly, the Great Wall and the Forbidden City are on the list of things to see.

Wodom1, I can send your dad an info pack, just pm the mailing address.

Brettw22, the unit you referred to are called Powered Paragliders. The pilot has a small engine and propellor attached to his back. He runs to inflate the parachute overhead and the propellor thrust keeps him up there. Cheaper than powered parachutes.

Masanz1, I'd rather not see the poverty if I can avoid it. I know it's there, and I really feel sorry for these people, but .....

To eveyone who wished me a good trip, thank you all!. I'll take plenty of pictures and post a few when I get back.

Good luck on your trip. Dress down, try not to look like a tourist with money. Act like you been there before. My rule of thumb is to only eat in restaurants with a table cloth. don't eat anywhere near a river. They go down to the river to get their water. Have fun they have some great counterfeit Rolexes that will actually work as a dependable watch for about $10. I have a friend who has one he bout about five years ago. It works great and look like the real thing.

Have a good trip job. Sounds like fun. Get some great food into you, limit your Saiki intake, let the locals do the driving and be nice to the Geisha Girls. It would be great to see the Three Rivers Gorge Dam. Enjoy!
