Crazy....of course, but

I want to run dual sda center channel speakers without running separate amps.

I have a yamaha receiver with pre- outs/ins.
I have a dvd player with a 5 channel decoder built in.

Can I run a pre-out of the dvd player into a Y splitter, into the receiver 's pre-in Mains, thereby gaining two pairs of speaker leads to run the dual SDA speakers.
I am only using the receiver to power the center channels (mains) and the surrounds.

Is there a better way, working only with what I've got ?

thanks,

-Luc

The center pre-out on your AVR,you need a spliter, but i doubt your AVR will be able to do it justice with out a seperate amp for the centers. You might
have a loss in volume in the center, throwing the sounstage out of wack.
BTW- I would like to power all my gear with flashlight batteries,but......

.........it works, but sounds ...very loud
due to the fact in this arrangement, I now have no volume control as the receiver is essentially an amp, and sending full power to the centers.
Oh well, seemed like a great idea.
I guess I could run the center speakers in parallel.

There is no shortage of power. The RX-V1 throws out 110wpc without breaking a sweat.

You can also take 2-sets of speaker cables and plug them into your avr's center speaker post. You might have to boost the center level a tad in your set-up menu.
