My tube amp is parked in an audio rack and it needs better ventillation. I'm looking for a super quiet 6" fan(s) or dual 4" fans similar to the ones used for computers. However, I need one that plugs into a standard electrical outlet. Even better is one I can hang on the wall behind the amp.

I've used the search function here, I checked ebay and amazon, but so far I got nuthin'. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Parasound ZBreeze. Check it out at AudioAdvisor.

Thanks, but the Parasound unit is designed to keep components cool that are directly below it. In my setup I can't place a fan above or below, so I need one that will fit behind my amp. Besides, that Parasound is ridiculously expensive.

Check out my systems showcase for what I mounted to the back of my TV stand and tell me if those appeal. They're 4" fans and compared to trying to use a computer case fan, they're fairly quiet (ac blowing softly). I tried a 4" computer fan and thought that my tv stand was going to take flight.

Plus it's half rack width, which makes it almost useless for normal gear.

Early...like these? Quikflow (http://www.qwikflow.com/ac_fans.html). I would suggest a single 120mm.

You could try a squirrel cage fan and use tubing to direct airflow. Could mount it way out of the way with less noise.

I use a 120mm 12vdc fan, connected with a 4v to 12v wall wart. Set the selector to 6v, and it is imposible to hear from more than a foot away.

Will this work?:

That would work, but if you want to make your own, most already have old wall warts laying round, and the fan can be had for about $5.

I have that some for free, but if ya don't want them, buy away.

In case you did a quick scan of the auction, that's for one fan only.....

Good luck.

If you place this behind the amp, I don't see a problem with it. William idea is great, but not as easy as buying one.

I don't think you're gonna like the "whirring" sound one bit. I even tried 2 vantech stealth fans for my amp, and the noise drove me nuts. I gave the amp more room instead...
