I'm planning to use FXi5's for the rear surrounds, but unsure how well they'll work in our offset living room. The wall the couch is against is the main problem-it's offset from the TV wall. I'm planning on hang the FXi5's on each side of the couch and picture-probably close to the end of each end of the wall section. Do I have any other options? I'm not interested in speaker stands because they'll likely get knocked over, so wall mount is a must. Also, my wife is a little unsure of having speakers on the same wall as the picture and is wondering if she had small baskets with flowers near the speakers to slightly cover them. Is that likely to interfere with sound? I'm open to suggestions for our strange living room arrangement :o
BTW, we just bought the picture, so that is why I'm trying to figure things out. I hadn't planned on having to work around it...lol

do what you planned to do. On the sides, about 3feet above the listening position.

Any idea if my wife's plan for flowers near the FXi5's would affect sound?

Though it should not make a big difference, everytime I move something in the room, I make sure I recalibrate. It sometimes amazes me that moving something small will cause the sound waves to reflect differently and thus give you a different soundstage.

I ran into a somewhat similar problem as you are, I would center that couch on that wall then mount the fxi5s on the wall. After that youre golden.

My wife would like to center the couch also, but then we are offset from the TV and front stage. One person would be directly in from the TV and speakers-everyone else would be to the left. :( I hope our next house has a better layout for H/T!! :D

is it possible for you to use speaker stands to get equal distance in your rears, perhaps would work better. I have a set of my FXi3s on stands also. What do u think about that option? Of course if you go that route you would want those that can be adjusted in height so you could get them high enough. Just a thought.

Sherardp where did you get your stands for your FXi3's from?

I'm really afraid of using stands because I have a feeling they'll get knocked over :( They'll be safer hung on the wall & out of the way.
