Polk SurroundBar & Sub Connection

I have a relatively inexpensive sub (Yamaha 215) that I need to connect to a system using the SurroundBar. Questions:

1. The S-Bar is now connected to the 5 speaker inputs on the recv'r (Yamaha 5650) and my intention is to connect the sub via the sub-out on the recv.r. Is this O.K. and if so, should I use a sub cable that has the two-leads that connect to the sub itself (I don't know the advantage of using this) or will the one-lead work O.K.

or

2. Should I connect the S-Bar directly to the sub's speaker inputs as shown as a setup option in the S-Bar instructions and continue from there...

My preference is paragraph 1. but I'm certainly open to any guidance anyone has to offer.

Would appreciate any comments.

For ease of use, I'd go with #1. I have mine this way and it works out rather well.

As far as the 2 leads, check to see if one of them is a pass thru, or sub out

A single RCA connection is fine for the subwoofer.

I would go with method #1 as it's simple and will work just as well. The advantage to the speaker level wiring method is sometimes a better blend between the subwoofer and your front L&R mains....which in this case make zero difference since it's not a traditional speaker.
