Is the pc. In this months issue of pcgamer magazine they ran an article saying that microsoft is trying to draw the attention back to pc gaming, because it is the heart of gaming. I also found this quite interesting. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/games/10reasons.mspx

And a direct quote from the top of the article "Television-based gaming boxes get a lot of press these days and they do have their merits, but a true gamer knows that a computer with Windows XP has many advantages that the consoles just can't measure up to.

While there's room for both in your house, let's look at 10 reasons you can get more out of your computer running Windows XP when it comes to gaming"

And this page in general is fun http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/games/news/default.mspx

I would be less arrogent about this if every 10 minutes someone dident try and convince me that console gaming is sooo far beyond pc.

Ok...

Everyone on the count of 3.. 1-2-3...

No one, not a soul, cares whether PC or Console gaming is better. Either you like to play on the PC or you like to play on the console.

Microsoft is going to say whatever is better by what they are selling. I bet you wouldnt be hard pressed to find a "Why consoles are better than PC" on their console site. Its called marketing.

Well, guess what, your not going to believe this, I didn't!, but the editors of Nintendo Power said in past issues that the Nintendo Gamecube is the best console, Who would have guessed! I thought their favorite was the sega saturn myself.

Microsoft is just trying to sell more software of xp, no more no less.

I play on both. The PC has always dominated with more complex games and better graphics. I don't see this changing anytime soon since PC's can be constantly upgraded.

Not for me....I dont have a hi-def tv yet and I'd rather sit in my cumfy recliner playing a video game on a 36" screen than in my office in a crappy chair on a 17" monitor..

I'd love to have a hi-def screen to play some pc games, though

RTS games are the only games I play on the PC. And thats only because all the good RTS (if any of you guys don't know, RTS means Real Time Strategy) games are only on the PC.

The new LOTR RTS on the 360 is amazing. They did a fantastic job of giving you expansive controls on the 360s controller. You're right about all the good RTSs being on PC, but they finally made a really good one for a console.

I don't understand why there isn't more RTS on the consoles. The Command and conquer games were a big success and were one of my favorites on the ps1. Advance wars on the GBA is another great example of a good RTS(well, its turned based, but I still consider it the same thing). But when they put it on the gamecube ( they called it battalion wars), it was a boring third person shooter.

I would like to see a good Rise of Nations and Starcraft (NOT STARCRAFT 64, something playable:D ) to hit the consoles.

But the thing I like the most about consoles (and I know many of you will dissagree), is that I don't have to upgrade my computer every year so the games can run smoothly. Just pay for one system then not have to worry about installing and upgrading.

They make them, but they don't work. It's hard to map a controller as well as you can map a keyboard.

I also agree with you on the upgrade problem. When XBox and PS2 came out I bought them both at lauch, but rarely ever played them. I was strictly into PC gaming and I spent untold thousands on upgrades to stay on the cusp of gaming technology.

Alright, let me make myself perfectly clear: I'm a hardcore PC Gamer.

That said, the "10 reasons why" article contains about 10 horrible reasons why consoles are inferior. Every single reason can be countered with a "Me too!" from the consoles with the exception of the upgrading number. Very disappointing Microsoft.

That said, I invariably return to my PC because of one key reason: My brand spanking new computer might become obsolete, but when it does it'll make a damn fine word processor. I can emulate console games on them, I can use them for a variety of things. My original gaming machine, 700mhz Athlon computer, is making a fine www/ftp/vpn server with no hitches at all.

Ultimately, while the consoles crow about their latest fps they must remember one thing: the day Halo 2 for xbox interacts with a pc equipped with a keyboard and mouse is the day they'll learn the meaning of inferior ;)

That can be countered with one number...

The game is is already approaching two years of age. No one on PC is going to be wowed by a game that is 2 years old and was not as poweful as games out on the release day. Yea, sure, I love Halo 2 and play it several times a week to this day, but PC games are just more powerful.

But... PC require constant upgrades. I'd love to play games on PC, but I don't have the revenue to keep up. So I'll stick to minesweeper :)

Ironically the most played game on my gaming machine is probably FreeCell. Nothing eats my time a way quite like that game... proving once again I'd go crazy if I ran linux regularly. ;)

I just start playing halo 2 again today, and now Im not sure if I want to get xbox live again, because I heard they have team swat on there now and thats my favorite. what to do...

Dreamcasts downfall was being released too early and the use of cds instead of dvds. Sounds kinda like the xbox 360, doesn't it;) except xbox has one thing dreamcast didn't.... Halo.

Halo to me was merely ok. But I am looking forward to crysis

and a movie, the guy is annoying but still good movie

and another

Man I sounded like an ass in the first post, now that I have a normal ehh.... level of awareness I see that. I think the main advantages pcs have over consoles are upgradability, things you can do with one, a nice hard drive to load bigger games with more textures and maps onto (because it would be annoying to switch a disc mid gameplay IMO) and a much more intuitive input system. Consoles however are much more fun to play with friends and you cant beat pooping in a disc and getting a few extra minutes of play time.

If you want to play crysis its gonna have to be on pc, the company ceo stated that noone will be seeing their new engine on next gen consoles in the near future. They are trying to focus on pc for now, then expand.
