hi, i know that this has already been posted but i really cant decide on either the rti 8s or 10s i have the psw505 so the bass isnt a big issue just what is the better overal speaker(money put aside)? 50% movies 50% music. PLEASE HELP!!

most of the folks here are going to tell you to listen to both, if you are able, and decide for yourself. my vote would have to go with 10's though.

Well first off is there a reason why you're choosing the RTi instead of the LSi? Regardless of what speakers you choose they will sound better because they'll be running off seperate power for one. But if the fronts are gonna be ran off seperates why not splurge just a tiny bit more and get the RTi12's? What else are you gonna be running with it? Go with the CSi5 center, FXi5 SIDE surrounds and RTi6 REAR surrounds. But if you cant splurge that much for the 12's, because you got seperate power for the fronts DEFINATELY go with the 10's.

Well i get a really good discount on the rti line, and i have the csi5 center, rti6 rears, and psw505.

Here we go again……………Rti8’s or Rti10’s…..hmmmmmmmmmm??

IMO these are both excellent speakers for HT application only. That is why Polk named them RT series. Yes, we can use both for HT and music application, but they really sound the best for HT.

If you have an average size room (14’x16’) I would stay with the Rti8’s. If you get the 10’s you going to cross them at 80hz anyway and get the sub to do the rest. I crossed my 8’s at 80hz and they integrate with my sub very nicely.

Ultimately you should audition both speakers and your ears will by you guidance. I listened to both 8’s and 10’s and went with the 8’s for HT. For music listening Lsi series is the way to go.

I, like Gator have the 8's and use a sub. I have them xover @ 60hz.
My vote again like Gator, if you're going to xthem over at 80, save the couple $$ and put it towards a sub of cables.

going from 8 to 10 is not what I would consider an upgrade. You mention save up...well again by going with the 8s he will save $$ and he could pick up the pb10.

Well I'm gonna put my 2 cents where it dont belong AGAIN! First I know you said 50/50 music/movies. But ultimately what do you like your HT for the most? Jamming out on some awesome music, or watching TV and movies? That's what you gotta ask yourself. If you think you like movies better than go with the LSi series. If you think you like music better than go with the LSi series. I dont see a problem here LOL No j/k. But seriously if you like more movies than music go with the 8's, if you like more music than movies go with the 10's but I'd talk to the wifey and see if you cant TRY to get them 12's. Then whatever you decide get , tell us ALL about it (cause we have to hear details) and then get at least a SVS PB10-NSD. Even though it's just a 10" it will be much more snappier and tighter than that Polk sub could ever be! Or you could go Velodyne but IMO you have to spend twice as much at Velodyne to get a quality sub than you do with the boys at SVS.
