I am looking at new cars and the Sky has a "Monsoon" audio sound system in it. I looked them up on the internet and their site isn't even up and running. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with them?

Thanks in advance

As far as OEM systems go, its not too bad. But that aint saying a lot. Its still way overpriced and underperforming and you could get a lot better for the same money in the aftermarket.

It would be in the wifes car. While she loves the truck stereo, she has already said after I offered, there is no way that we will spend a extra 1-2k on a car stereo.(aftermarket) She just is not into audio the way I am. But I still have itchy fingers. LOL

The Sky comes with that, but the Mitsubishi Spyder comes with Rockford Fosgate

Maybe this will help... http://www.skyroadster.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6422&highlight=monsoon

It looks like an alright system for being OEM.

I listened to the monsoon system in the pontiac vibe, but it also had a small subwoofer with it (not sure if the sky does). I was rather impressed with the sound, even though it is true it will never sound as good as what you could get with aftermarket products at the same price.

It does have the benefit of being simple to use though, something you wont have to tinker around with much, as well as the benefit of being conservative of cabin/storage space. Though I would never spend the money on an upgraded factory system, the sound was pleasant and well-balanced. Definitey not a system for a basshead though...

I guess that by listening to the truck stereo for so long the wife now says "Yes, I want all of the amneities that you have in your truck." So that should save some wasted $$ by being able to get the low end stock stereo and just upgrading later.
