I'm looking for some good concert DVD's...especially those encoded in DD & DTS. I use these to show off the HT setup, and makes great for when you have a party and just want something playing on the HT.

So far I have a Keith Urban concert, and my favorite: Yanni Live at the Acropolis. The Yanni DVD is awesome...simply great for showing off the HT setup.

I also have a pretty good Michael Jackson dvd, but the concert was recorded in Stereo mode only...

Santana - Supernatural Live

Nice collaboration with something for everyone

Soulive - 1999-2003

Not sure how to classify them...Progressive Jazz??? Anyways, great instrumental music.

Rush - A Show of Hands

For some reason, this DVD is still much better than the more recent Rush in Rio.

Incubus - Alive at Red Rocks

My favorite live DVD...well, today anyways.

I've also seen a Disturbed and Herbie Hancock DVD recently that made a buddies Best Buy setup sound impressive.

EDIT: Scratch the Disturbed. It was the Godsmack DVD Mr. Haens listed above.

Also, Primus - Hallucio-Genetics DVD.

It's my favorite music DVD, probably because I was there for the filming.

It's not really a concert per say....It is a documentary with lots of live music in a small concert setting....

The musicians are guys you have never heard of....but I guarantee you have heard THEM...

The DTS track is superb....

SQ, mixing, etc....of the concerts is BETTER than Hell Freezes Over - (And yes...HFO is one of my favorite concert DVDs). I am not a fan of Multichannel music....but this one is done right. The music in front, the reverb and crowd from the back...It is like you were there. No gimmicks...just music like you would hear at a concert....

If your rig is good....this one will show it.

Standing In The Shadows of Motown

A doumentary film about The Funk Brothers (the band behind many of Motown's greatest groups/hits). It can be had for $10 or less....Give it a try....

Fleetwood Mac The Dance. Pink Floyd's The Wall is not concert, but is the full movie/album with some cool, swirling surround. SRV DVD off the 4 disk box set that comes in book format (can't recall title.) It is from his Austin City Limits performances. His second set of concerts, recorded during his clean days, has much better fidelity. This disk is better than the other disk not found with the box set. A Tribute to George Harrison w/Clapton, Petty, Ravi Shankar's daughter on Sitar, Jeff Lynne and an amazing Indian orchestra. If you want a great sound, this is it.

Eagles Hell Freezes Over & Farewell Concert are awesome!

Totally agree, the two Eagles concerts are fantastic and must owns.
Another is Steely Dan Two against nature live, fantastic DTS 5:1
mix. ELO's Zoom, Led Zep's West, the Who at Albert Hall, John Fogerty's
Premonition, Stevie Ray Vaughan's Live at El Mocombo, Brian Wilson's
Smile 2004, and Floyd's Pulse are other favorites. Great sound on all of them.

No biggie, but the title How The West..... is the 3-disc cd set.

The DVD is aptly titled Led Zeppelin-DVD

Just didn't want anyone to pick up the wrong thing. You really should have both in your collection anyways :D

Suprised nobody has mentioned Eric Clapton One More Car One More Rider, may have the best audio. Also , get to see the great Billy Preston.

Also, second the Eric Clapton Crossroads--very eclectic and audio is fantastic

Another that I particularly like is Aerosmith You Gotta Move--not recorded in DTS but still sounds good nonetheless. A lot of the classics with a touch of some blues off of Honkin on Bobo.

The only negative part of these conert videos is that I do not have a high end tubed DVD player:D

If you can find a copy of Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense DVD, grab it... It sits atop many concert movie lists.... including mine...

For historical reasons, Woodstock - The Director's Cut, should be in any collection. The sound track was cleaned up and sounds pretty darn good for its age. The Director's cut release doesn't really add any footage I'd call indespensable, but a nice Janis Joplin number was added. Besides, there was plenty of indespensable work in the original release.

Yes, that Clapton is very good. Billy Preston playing that instrument I can't recall that has him blowing air into a tube while playing keyboards. Damn, he was the man. Played with everyone. Sorely missed. Also, a second on The Who at Albert Hall. Big sound. You can really feel the openesss of that amazing place.

Marilyn Manson is pretty fun to watch. He lets the audience spit on him throughout one song. :D
