View Full Version : Listening Chairs
so now that I've really been working on upgrading my system and although i have a way to go its already at a thoroughly enjoyable level... I starting thinking today...
what are some good listening chairs? I want something that sits kind of low to the ground, to put my ears at a better level with the RTA11's, slightly leaning backward (or adjustable..but not necessarily a recliner...something not that expensive, more minimalist), but with comfy padding and leather.
So, that gave me an idea for a topic... post your "listening" chair, or at the least a suggestion to me for mine, heheh. I think it'd be interesting to see... an integral part to a listening room of course, is where you sit to listen. Should be comfortable for extended listening sessions, yet not so as to want to fall asleep during the performance.

I love my rocker/recliner, so many options front to back to tune into the sweetspot if your room isnt great. Plus its great therapy for the special occasions when you WANT your wife/GF/signifigant other to spend some quality time "listening" to your rig, as their usually big enough for two. ;)

+1, not good to have alot of material above/behind your head. I just listen from my couch.

I have put my chair in its spot and told it not to move, provide me with a soft place and not to swallow any remote, it has listened so I guess it's a good one.

Tone e-zine has an interesting article in their current issue on this subject.
My 2 channel chairs, cheap and comfortable (bought from IKEA).

I have a not so cool listening chair right now... but am looking to change that.
I was looking at the Ikea Poang in brown leather with black frame for $199... but I'm thinking about the Zero Gravity Perfect Chair which sells for an exhorbitant amount of money... I dont even want to post the price.
Here are pics:

hmm... ok, I didn't think about that.. you're right, I wouldn't want material behind my head.

For the last eight or nine years I've been using a Bassett "Morris" chair. It's beginning to show some wear. In the next year or so it will probably get replaced by something similiar.

"Morris" chair.
Ditto: I use a 28 spindle Hardin Morris Chair that's been around for a 100 years. Most comfortable chair made. It's probably worth more than my system.
hmm..a morris chair. looks comfortable. Polkersince85 - think you could post a picture of your chair? Nifty...a 100 year old chair!
