MMC6500 vs DB6500 Comps

I would like too know the real difference, besides the obvious ones...

I would like to know your opinions, and which you think is a better component set (6.5")

Midbass?

Midrange?

Tweeter?

Fitting In The Stock Location?

All around better? Momo mmc6500.

The db's are shallower, easier to fit in the stock locations and sound pretty good.

Both MMC and db 6500s put out good midbass.

The tweeters are better (and the midrange is probably better too) on the Momos.

The db's are more efficient, but if you will be amping them the Momos will play louder.

Try Crutchfield's "what fits my car" for your make and model- if the Momos fit, they'd be the best bet.

Yeah, pretty much the Momos are better in every way.

You get better build quality, a much much better crossover, a far superior tweeter and better mid.

I can get them for $180, so I'll probably go that route.

I know 6.5"'s will fit, I'm just worried about the depth of the momos since they look REALLY deep. Can any give any information on this?

Go here and check their dimensions and then you can check your mounting depth in your doors or wherever youre going to mount them.

I've seen and heard they have a lengthly break in period.

How long is this? I have a Pheonix Gold amp (125wrms x 2 @4ohms, so 125wrms to each side) and am wondering if its enough power? What should be done in the break in period?

You'll have to double check Polk literature, but if I remember right, the Momos have a removable magnet cover that can cut down on the depth required to a degree.

That said, these are a lot deeper than the dbs (and most OEM type speakers).

As for break in period, my Momos started sweetening up within a couple weeks and my SR's took about a month.

But you also have to figure that part of that time was also me getting them dialed in right with the EQ as well.

Hmmm....It seems I have about 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 Mounting Depth in my stock location. I jsut hope fit, and if they don't....uh oh.

My second option is still the db6500's

It's just that the momos look soooo much deeper than anything.

Is there anyone that has them and tell me if they're as big as they look and if they had to modifaction. (These are going into a 02 dodge intrepid BTW)

Yes, I'm not sure how much room I have between the speaker and the cover that goes over it, Might as well try.
