Not sure how the prices are in your region, however when I compared the Paradigm Studio Reference 20's to other monitors in their price range ($800 usd) they came out very well in the comparison. Very well built, with sound quality to match. Not as picky on placement as others in the same range (new and used!). The placement issue was a big part of my decision. I would definetely consider going to Paradigm for my HT at some point in the future.

prices in sa are high, very high, the paradigms start at R7300 south african rands and thats a months salary for a few priviladged people. i am not sure if $1000 is a lot of money in your area but this currently translates to R7500 in my land and very few can afford it, unless you are a manager or own a business or get paid a lot of money and dont mind spending this kind of cash on speakers. i like the paradigms but they are expensive.
Why? Well, part of that is because they can and thats what people are willing to pay for their speakers. The other part deals with keeping your regular profit margain of 50-60%. In Paradigms case, they also must cover expenses to develop and build all the components that go inside their speakers. Most of it is all en'house. Most of their stuff is pretty cheap sans the cab and the mid/woofs.
I'm not a big fan of the Paradigm sound. That being said, I often wonder how they earn the tremendous accolades received. No matter, nothing but respect on this end.
