amp and an onkyo503 avr

i had a dream last night. i was thinking of a way i could boost the power of my system. mainly my surrounds. i was wondering. i'm fairly new to this. i was wondering if it would be smart to hook up two two channel amps to drive the main surrounds and the back surrounds. or would it be better to jus get a 7 channel.

It would help, although I don't think the 503 has pre-amp outputs. Check the manual or the back of the receiver to find out for sure.

The 503 doesn't have pre-outs. You'll have to upgrade your avr before adding an amp.
