No price yet. Some claim it's still a prototype while Sony has admitted that they are considering a similar machine. Expect at least US$1,000....for now.

Blu-ray....now comes with SACD
Did you see the pics of Toshibas 2nd gen players the A2 and XA2, they play DVD-A and SCAD, according to the display.
Be warned, these are very hi-rez pics...

Thats a pretty neat looking player.
I believe Warner just patented dual BR/HD DVD disc technology recently.

Yep, here's the tid-bit on that...
LONDON (Reuters) - A patent application has been filed for a disc that would play two competing high-definition DVD formats which, if successful, could help appease a battle that has divided Hollywood and confounded consumers.
The patent application was filed by three Warner Bros. employees, two of whom are engineers for the company.
The "multilayer dual optical disk" would have one layer of data in the standard CD or DVD format, a second layer able to play one high-capacity format and a third layer for the competing high-capacity format.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have a player that played both formats rather than a disk that could be played on either player?

To do it well may push the price point to high, to do not well, is well, crap.

You'd need a 5 layer disk, one for SD-DVD and 2 each for HD-DVD and Blu-ray otherwise if only 3 layers space is lost and PQ and SQ go down the crapper. I just don't see something like this being cost effective. They are already charging $10 more for the HD-DVD/SD-DVD combo disks, now to add a third, ouch!
To get Toshiba and Sony to come together and turn over licensing for a universal player...highly doubtful anytime soon. If both formats start to die off and the companies go into panic mode I can see it happening otherwise forget about it for quite awhile.

Yeah, it would be a ton of licensing fees and royalties to pay off. Hopefully just one of the formats will give up and die. Quickly.
