I have had the lsi mind all along for my new house which is almost done.But as I am nearing my purchase, I wonder if other speakers,like rockets or axioms would be a better .Maybe I am just getting nervous,but I second guess every purchase

right now I have an onkyo with no preouts,so I will have to start everything fresh.I like my onkyo, so probably a higher end onyo with preouts, a used rotel or outlaw and then the speakers.my room is 24x14x9 and opens up into the kitchen of the same size.I also have a 60 inch sony sxrd tv to build this around, so I want it too rock.60% music 40% movies

Take a look at the Paradigms, the 60.v.3 or 100.v.3 The 100 are 8 Ohms but like their power, I don't think the Oink will do the LSI series justice, but listen to as many as you can then decide.

No, it has nothing to do with whats better, it has to do with how much power is required to make the speaker operate as intended, each design has benefits and flaws.

Buy the LSI's get the power you need.

The Lsi9/15s use the same vivaXT tweeter that the Onix (higher end Rockets)use, so you are getting the same tweets for a lot less...
While I haven't heard the Tyler brand there are a few things that I question with these speakers; velco grills and lack R&D on cabinet resonance, they have great drivers though....If I had to do it all over again which I probably will do eventually I would go with 8 ohm speakers, easier to drive with less watts.

LSi15s and 9s sound different (obviously) so what model you have in mind will matter...same applies to rockets....Rockets are nicer looking and has just as good of build as LSis IMO...sound, depending on your preference and model, may or may not be better....not very helpful I know but...

I was looking at the rocket 760's. you have the 750's?how do they sound?that is part of the problem.I can audition the lsi's, but not the rockets.I am just left with reviews and opinions.I can however save about 500 to 600 with the rockets, not needing the help of an external amp right away.

Hey, just buy the Lsi's, dammit, if that's what you originally wanted. There are a thousand speaker options and you'll keep going in circles if you don't make a firm decision.

Personally I would skip both and just go for the Monitor RS6's (8ohm) beautiful for the money and like in the other thread they are cho0sen best speaks (for the price range) of the year. you can get em for like 600$ a pair. I am a big fan of Monitor they can do no wrong IMO and they make their own drivers!

As others have said, ditch the onkyo, but you might look at yamaha instead- last I looked you could get pre-outs on them w/ cheaper models and 1) you won't be using the power section, so it won't matter that much and 2)it's just a stepping stone till you get a real pre-amp.

The 750s sound pretty good but it sounds quite a bit smaller and more conventional than LSi 15s. They sound a bit like LSi7s but much deeper, and tight bass. The bass does not go as low as 15s but it is much much tighter. The biggest difference between 750s and 15 is in the upper mid/lower highs. 15s can sound a bit strange with some recordings, seemingly throwing too much sound to the back of the speakers...this is not present in 750s or 7s... of course, they sound more conventional as a result too...if you go to av123 website, you can find out who owns Rockets near you and can get an audition....BTW, Axiom M60s do not compare to LSis or Rockets in any level.....

If you wanted LSis from the start, follow the gut dude, unless you plan on doing double or more of the price, you wont go wrong with the LSi line up.

Get to be good friends with a future shop or best buy employee... you wouldn't believe what kind of prices they give to the employees in regards to polks. Then you'll have no reason to not go polk. I probably shouldn't post exact numbers but if you're really really curious and plan to go that route pm me ;)

As Sid suggested, Polk's mark-up is average. Virtually everyone else in the industry retains the same profit margains. The only difference is that Polk is one of the few companies that give employee's of distributors and vendors a chance to get them for cost. As a courtesy, I wouldn't go around just giving the information to every tom dick and hairry. Its not that its a big secret to be kept, but more about respect. Thats just me.

I tried my best to talk a friend into buying a full LSi setup for his HT. He opted for the rockets and an SVS instead. He was not disappointed and I was somewhat impressed. They sounded pretty much like I expected the LSi's to. Cheaper or more expensive, I don't know but they had the same character. Probably due to the tweeter that was mentioned. I had no idea they used the same one. I would still go with the LSi's because I've seen what went into them design wise but I didn't hear any real down side in his setup with the rockets. Of course I couldn't compare side by side.
