WOW.
Every so often you run into something that blows your hair back (unless you are F1Nut in which case it's a constant, regardless).
I heard her do a version of Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time' on XM awhile back and filed it away. Well, I had an Amazon gift certificate to spend so I picked up her Time After Time CD.
AWESOME stuff, brohams. I'm not easily moved but this babe has got pipes in spades.
Sadly, she died back in '96. I'm actually sad because whatever 'it' may be, screw ebay, she had 'it'.
Listen to her version of Bob Dylan's 'The Letter' and you can't help think that's the sound that Janis Joplin would have aspired to.
Ima order her Songbird's LP....right diddy quick.

I discovered Eva about a year ago. WOW is right!!! Wait till you hear her version of 'Over the Rainbow' on Songbird. Her version of Sting's 'Field of gold' is great too as is the whole cd. Sadly she died very young and never knew she would touch so many people.

UPDATE:
Flogging ye old dead horse here....
I got the Songbird LP and Live at Blues Alley (not available on LP, I don't think).
Guys, this is the real deal. What a performer. This is stuff that will really move you. Even you big manly type men. Mike is correct, Over the Rainbow is out of this world.
Added bonus, her recordings are an audiophool wet dream. System evaluation tools in spades.
Can't emphasize enough, she is a must have in your collection.

My moldy cheese wasn't enough to score a care package. Guess I'll have to find some of this.
I heard a few cuts on vinyl at Troy and Wendi's (did I mention the five star meal?) and she was an extraordinary talent (the shrimp was to die for) and will raise the goosebumps (damn, that was good groceries!)
Would have loved to have heard her live at Blues Alley (a favorite haunt in Georgetown with an amazing Chinese restaurant next door--nowhere near Troy's cooking, though), but she was gone before I moved to the area.
Thanks for the tip. I had never heard of her before your suggestion.

Oh yeah, thanks BDT! (did I mention how good the 'taters were with that Low Country delight?)

It's funny that I see this thread today. My neighbor just played the Songbird LP for me yesterday. She has an incredible voice. Definitely a record soon to be added to my collection.

No idea about Eva but just purchased based on this thread! Sounds incredible based on some other reviews I just read. I need something new to go in the BADA when it gets here anyway!

Here is a great video of Eva singing 'Over the Rainbow':

The song builds slowly and the notes she hits after the 4 minute mark give me chills. The voice of an angel.

Eva Cassidy rocks!
John 30 30 happened to mention her in a thread so I checked her out on a whim. Wow, what a talent and interesting story. I've since aquired as much of her music as possable and turned my friends on to her as well. Live at Blues Alley is a favorite.
