Up for grabs:

1.-Dared SL2000 tube preamp (2005); great little pre for the money; with the right tubes compares with the Dodd ELP...ok...gets close. Remote volume. two inputs, two outputs. 9/10. Uses 12AT7 (2)and a rectifier.
It has served me well for a little over a year, but I am getting an AES AE3 DJH Reference pre and cannot keep both. Have original box/packaging/manual/remote and will ship with the original Chinese POS and a pair of Amperex Bugle Boys that sound great.
*SOLD*

2.-JBL Urei SR6630 amp; 190 WPC at 8 OHM, 300 WPC at 4 OHM. It simply smoked my previous Adcom 555; once I connected it, it immediately shined in detail and better lows. Heavy bastard. Got it from Russman. Selling it for the Belles. 8/10. Any one wanting a real nice amp to drive LSi's, here's your chance. It was plenty of good power for my 1.2 TL's.
*It has a fan, not very loud, but you can hear it if you are close and nothing is playing-I never noticed it while music was playing at any volume-I just say it so it's not a surprise...* No original package; will pack well. Manual can be found on the web.
$$$$ shipped to CONUS (I do not remember how much I paid for it....but this is what I sold the Adcom for, so it's a good price considering this one is far superior).
*SOLD* to oshkigod When I took it out I saw a scratch in the top I had forgotten about...still a great deal.

3.-DPA The Little Bit Three DAC: from Russman's thread when he posted it for sale:
"High end d/a from the early 90's. Optical and Coax inputs, dual 20 bit Crystal chips (IIRC). Rare sleeper find. Small dent on rear of case."
And a real sleeper it is; it made my Denon CD changer sound like a grand better. 7/10 due to a dent in the back. Not the prettiest piece of gear, but it does do the job very well. No original package/manual; will pack well.
NOT FOR SALE...I decided to keep it; thanks to everyone for not buying it :)

This is it for now; big speakers will be up for sale in a couple weeks (snif).

If interested, first post here, then PM me.

Ricardo.

Pictures: DAC is the top one, Amp is the bottom one; Dared by itself (with the dust :o ).

The Dared lacks an HT passthru, correct?

That Urei amp, with my Melos linestage, and a pair of original Monitor 7's was VERY close to the best sound I've ever heard. VERY close.

The little bit three is one of those rare peices, affordable enough for you to 'try' an external d/a, and at the same time, it sounds so good - it may be your last external d/a. I shit you not. Side note, I found a write up on the DPA (and where it is now, I have no idea) - but it actually has 3 1-bit dacs per channel, in parallel, and does it's magic through 256 times oversampling before it hits the dacs, which is INSANE, and a jitter killer.

Man, you're making me all nostalgic now, wanting to get my spend on. Nice to see you trying things and moving closer to 'your' sound Ricardo. Fun, ain't it?

Cheers,
Russ

Yes....it is fun.... If I wasn't spending like crazy, I would keep both the Urei and the DAC; they made me VERY happy while they were here, but it's time to move on. Even though I have not yet heard the AL-III's, deep down I know already I will let go the SDA's; will the Carvers stay? Not sure yet; I am looking for something different; I was close with the Monitor Audio's, but not quite there. Who knows...I might end with a pair of monitor 7A's. Since I heard them at Noel's a year ago, I cannot stop thinking about how great those little speakers sound. :)

An HT pass through is a bypass to use the same speakers for both 2 channel and Home Theater; you go from your HT receiver pre outs to the preamp, out to the amp for your main speakers; with a switch you select if you want the source to be the HT receiver or the 2 channel preamp.

Not sure how that CDP sounds...but if it's a tube CDP you probably want to use the analog outputs...or else you are not getting much from the tubes. I am a bit ignorant on this... so let others chime in.

I'll try to have them set up the same way for your return trip or with the Jolida to see what they sound like with an extra 30 tube watts each.

Don't think you'll need a DAC with the Kavent, I know I don't with it's twin Sheng Ya.

You won't get the tube output with an external d/a, that doesn't mean you don't want to try one. It CAN sound better than the tube output, but that's for you decide.

Russ

How would the DPA compare with a Parasound 2000 DAC?

sent pm back, I'll take it. too good and amp at a great price to let leave the family. nothing wrong with having some good, cheap solid state power floating around when you need it. Might rotate its way into my home theater, or might try my Carver Amazings on it for kicks and giggles.
