I just found out, 12 hrs too late, that preorder became available at Gamestop and EB Games locations this morning. I called all over my metro area, and they were all sold out. Did anyone have better luck than me?

I heard that some places had people lined up over an hour before they even opened just for a pre-order. Craziness...

I'm sorry, did I insult you somehow:confused: . I just told you I heard from a friend that something was wrong with the ps3, and asked you guys if its true...
Either way, I don't care. I'm not buying one anyways. I was just wondering if we are going to see the same lines that we saw during 360's launch:eek: ...

I don't think there is anything wrong with the PS3 other than the price. They say there are issues with every system when they are released, and by and large it's trumped up. I'm sure issues with the PS3 will arise, but like Microsoft, and the XBox 360, the issues are largely isolated.

how can there be issues with a product that hasn't been released yet?
anything "heard" at this point can only be speculation and rumors, and since consumers can't even buy one yet what's the point?

There are a ton of demo consoles out there, and I think that's where the rumors are coming from. Obviously it's B.S. The demo kiosks are already out.

The rumer is all the playable systems at the Toyko game show needed to be rebooted frequently leading to overheating concerns. Sony denied all of this I believe.
There will probably be a lot of rumers going around to get people to wait. Maybe they thing getting a bunch of people to wait and see will free up some more of the first batch? I don't know.

I called my EB when I found out about the pre-order. The guy laughed at me and said he had people camping out a 3am just to make a 10am pre-order. I waited in line for my Xbox360, and I don't even play the damn thing. I'll take a PS2 any day of the week. The games are just 'more fun' IMO.

Anyone know if any other stores haven't done their pre-orders yet? I heard that Walmart was coming up soon.

tommyboy,
Its not for me, its for my cousin who promised his son a PS3 for christmas...foolish.
I always wait it out, like I am planning on getting the XBOX360 but not until next year when prices should come down, and when they switch to the 65nm chips. I usually wait at least 6 months so they can get the bugs out, there is a larger supply, and there are more games to choose from.

All preorders are over. Only select companys were allowing it. It was a done deal within minutes. Wal-Mart and other large retailers are first come first serve. They will slowly arrive through December, just like the XBox360. I had my hands on a couple of them opening week.
Legit preorders are on ebay right now.
I will be keeping i eyes peeled......
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Sony issued a warning Tuesday against false promotional offers for its upcoming PlayStation 3 video game console.
A number of websites have been promoting pre-orders on discounted or bulk shipments of the game system — without the cooperation of Sony, the company stated.
Company representatives did not name the sites but suggested consumers can avoid potential scams by purchasing PlayStation products only from authorized retailers and resellers, which includes well-known stores such as GameStop, EB Games, Best Buy and Wal-Mart.
The PlayStation 3 system, with models priced between $500 and $600, is set to go on sale in the U.S. on Nov. 17, though only in limited quantities.
Some authorized stores began taking pre-orders on Oct. 10. At some GameStop and EB Game locations, the orders were snapped up within minutes.
Sony has said it plans to ship 6 million Playstation 3 machines in its fiscal year through March 2007.

March 2007
Which is the soonest I'll buy one, but I will get one.
I can't wait to see what the sales figures are going to be. I still think it's too expensive for your average gamer. I know a lot of gamers that are broke ass, but I guess it doesn't stop them from putting it on a credit card.

I think Toys R Us is doing preorders sunday. 9-14 units a store only. I would confirm before heading out there, but I wouldn't be surprised if the line is 20 long saturday night.
Sony also cut expected numbers for lunch systems for Japan but I'm not sure about the US.
Good luck

I missed the episode but i heard they were actually referring to the Wii. Hey, game console launches are exciting. I remember picking up the PS1 the day it came out and thier was not even a line.
Oh, then thier was the Furby massacre. The PS3 didn't hold a candle.

I won't lose sleep over PS3. Btw, with the kids already have GBA, DS, DS lite, PS2, XBOX360, bought in the past 2 years, I don't know if WII and PS3 really going to starve them from the game console withdrawal...
For me, I am awaiting my HD-DVD add on to XBOX-360.
