does your current receiver have pre outs? if so, just keep it and buy a new amp.

Ditto. I went from a H/K 635 to bi-amping a Rotel 985 for 200/channel for the front RTi8's and it made a world of difference. The soundstage is fuller and much of the brightness is gone (or at least toned down for 2 channel use).
