Which ones? There are two models, the CRS's and the CRS+.

The plus may go for a little more...

Check these on Ebay. Mint with boxes. Heard these for the first time at PF and was blown away by the big sound produced by a not so large speaker. That was the consensus of everyone listening, and with a blown tweet to boot. If I could justify their purchase, I'd be all over these.

Not only will the model difference change the price, but so will the condition and whether or not they come with the original stands. Then there is the difference between the CRS+ with the blade/blade cable and the CRS+ with the pin/blade cable. Bottom line, if you want a pair, just pay what you are comfortable with.

I wouldn't sell my upgraded CRS+ to full mod 4.1TL with shot loaded original stands and Mye Sound spikes for less than a grand. They are however, not for sale.

$350 to $450, for a decent, clean pair of CRS+, to answer your question.

I just picked up some really, really nice CRS+'s from CandyLiquor - what are these upgrades that you refer to?

SL2000 to 3000 conversion.

Dave, you can only do the 4.1TL mod with the pin/blade CRS+. Changing the tweeters also involves some crossover work. In addition, I completely upgraded the crossovers using Sonicaps and Mills resistors. Dynamat Extreme was applied the all the speaker/PR baskets and Cardas binding posts replaced the originals.

I do have the pin/blade style of connector, which is good news.

How would you describe the change in sound from stock? And, what would the approx cost be to do the mods?

Russman - you mentioned the change from SL2000 to 3000 tweets, is that more desirable than the RDO silk-domes? Are the 3000's a little less-harsh than the 2000's, but not quite as "soft" as the RDO's?

The 3000's don't have the hf bump that the 2000's do. I can't make a call on the sound, I haven't done a direct side by side comparison between the RDO and 3000.

Cheers,
Russ

The full mod I would describe as dramatically better. Overall much smoother with more detail, lusher mids, deeper and tighter bass. I don't remember exactly what it ran, but somewhere around $400.00....probably more.

Forget the SL2000's and SL3000's, anicent history. The RD0198-1 is the one to use. At first I upgraded the crossovers and all the other stuff described above, using the RD0194-1 tweeters. I wasn't entirely happy with the results compared to my modded 2.3TL's. At that point I decided to do the 4.1TL mod and glad I did.

These are the old style with blade/blade connector. No 4.1TL mod known for this version.

Read this older discussion about this particular version with the extra tweeter:

Hmmm, link won't open for me. I hope it was a Polkie! I've got the older CRS's, no 4.1 TL upgrade for me, but I like their sound. Big sound from a small speaker. I've got crossover upgrades planned for mine. Probably after X-mas.

not me. i was pretty bummed out that they got so high, although it wasn't that much of a shock. perfect shape with original boxes...

but yeah, if anyone has a pair of CRS or CRS+ they'd be interested in selling let me know!
