LSi9's . . . . .reallly!

Well, I recall some threads about the 15's vs. the 9's. see my sig for my setup. the only thing not there is that the center and fronts have Audio Quest Type 2 bannanas and the rears have Acoustic Research ProSeriesII 12 guage. I have recently redone my basement and one of the first things to be assembled was my hometheater/soundsystem. I wanted music while I hooked up my speaker and decided to run some music at a decent level in 5-channel stereo. Out of curiosity I turned off the 7500 thereby leaving the LSi9's by themselves. OMG!!! someone mentioned how much bass they can reproduce. And how!!!! Really, an amazing bookshelf speaker. Everyone knows the 15's are likely superior, but is gets the benefit of the bigger cabinet.

So I ask: how many other speakers with the same/similar dimensions as the 9's can do what they do for anywhere NEAR the price.

bottom line, if you never owned the 15's and only owned the 9's, there is nothing more you would likely ever need than a really decent sub. Of course, I have too too!! ;)

yea, i use my lsi9s without a sub for music only.

Any by the way. I used to drive my lsi9s with a outlaw 5 channel amp very similar to yours. When i switched and started using a my rockford fosgate car amp (800 watts total power that could double the power as the impedance halfed all the way down to 2 ohms) i noticed the bass was extended noticably deeper....

I am using duel 55 amp dc power supplies. (both sharing a 20 amp power line)

Lsi9's are tough to beat in their niche.

The Lsi 9's are superb speakers for their size & price point. I had then up and running in my system for about 2 wks during a 30 day home trial. I was more than sold on them & actually fell in love with them. All was well until I heard a pair of AAD 2001 monitors. They're a bit smaller at 13x13x9 than the 9's but quite a bit heavier at 46 lbs. The sound was unbelievable!!! The bass was to be heard to be believed. They fill my 13x32ft room without breaking a sweat. They are a couple hundred more than the 9's but to me were well worth it. If I never heard them, I'd stiil be the proud owner of a pair of Lsi 9's. To this day I've not heard anything in the same size & price range that would make me consider giving them up. They are designed & built by the legendary speaker designer Phil Jones.

I can listen to my 9s tirelessly - they are so smooth and there is no listener fatigue. They really opened up with more space between them... about 7 ft now in a smallish room. I use a Dayton Titanic sub with them for extra kick. The Dayton is a sealed unit and blends well.

I am guessing that because they are heavier than the 9's that they have much more internal bracing thereby adding to weight and I assume giving the woofer less resonance to fight.
