Anyone have a (fully functional) HK 3475 or 3470 they want to unload? Looking for a 2 channel HK with the VMAX virtual surround feature...and I prefer the 347x series to the 3480 (I just think the looks and build quality are a bit better, for whatever reason)....although if the price is right on a 3480 I might go for it.

Thanks!

Woody

What about a 3380?

The 3380, although certainly a solid 2 channel receiver, doesn't have the vmax processing that I have convinced myself I need for the highly unlikely event that my family would watch a movie in glorious 2.0 in the living room. My wife prefers to watch movies in that room rather than my dedicated HT room because the living room couch is more comfortable than the one in the HT (lol). Thanks though.

Just an idea, don't know if anyone else does this or not.
I've got an HK3400. This is the one I was having problems with a while back, but I opened up, sprayed down the speaker selector and the input selection switches and never had any more problems. Anyway, since I love it for two channel, but I have a similar situation (want occasional surround in the basement) I just added another 2-channel receiver to the setup. The DVD player in that room has 5.1 outputs and is speaker configurable (phantom), so I hung those cambridge surrounds up, fiddle with the volume a bit when we start up a movie and presto! surround sound setup with every day 2-channel use. Curious to see if I'm the only one who does this....I'm sure I'm not.

Woody,

I have a hK3470 that is in pretty good condition. The problem is, this thing has constantly replaced many well esteemed seperates and is one hilaciously good back-up amp! What speakers do you intend on running with it?

Thanks for the replies guys. I can't say that I've ever considered doing what you suggest there jaw...but what an interesting idea. Very creative. And I do have a DVD player around here somewhere with 5.1 outs.

Zero - Sell me that damn thing. I know you have had it for a long time...every time I have read about you running your lsi7s with it I have wanted it more. Right now I am running a pair of rt400 that I just picked up locally from the bay...a good deal at $60 and they are in great shape. I haven't decided if they will stay though...may go back to my beloved Advent Prodigy's...they are just so much more punchy than the rt400...and I think the bass is tighter, cleaner and even digs a bit lower. Now go pack the HK. Seriously though, if you are going to regret selling it (and it sounds like you will), don't let go of it.

danger - My HT is really a pretty small bedroom and there is no way to get a proper sized couch in the door due to the weird hallway angles involved (the futon I have in there now had to be assembled in there).

Woody,

Tell you what - I'm keepin an extra eye open for an HK 3470/5. I'm going to think on this a few days. The problem is that the market value on this particular unit is well below where it performs... gotta see if some new toys I have coming in will make as suitable (Albiet much more expensive) back-up units ?

Sounds good to me Sean, no rush. I'm always on the lookout for one too.

Thanks for the heads up Sean...unfortunately I dragged my feet on that one (thought the price was just a bit high, although not out of the ballpark). Kicking myself now.
