I know we have alot of military, both current and former, here and I figure this is a good place to ask this question. My boys and I were talking today about the troops being away for the Holiday season and would like to do our small part to make it better for them and let them know that our family appreciates them. Is there a website where we can get the email address of a soldier, or "adopt a soldier"? Maybe send him or her something that they need or want. Maybe we are too late for Xmas. I don't know.

Anyway I would like to support the troops and put a face on this War for my kids and family.

Thanks Kevin

I haven't went yet, but I usually head to the post office and buy phone cards for the troops so they can call loved ones.

Great thread Kevin.. it fills my heart to see wonderful people such as yourself! Instilling some wonderful morals into those kids too! I will give this some thought and hopefully come back with a meaningful suggestion.

We donate to the USO.

Here is an anouncement from their web site:

"The DoD is urging the general public not to send unsolicited mail, care packages or donations to service members unless you are a family member, loved one or personal friend. This is done as a way to bolster force protection."

The USO is, however, actively seeking phone card donations, as well as cash donations.
