FOR: SDA-1C home stereo dimensional array system vintage 1989, I need to replace a silver coil dome tweeter, 1" (more like 1 1/4").
(1) Is this a bad idea? (2) What options are open - I hear of silk/polymer dome tweeter but the Polk model I found is for car stereo. (3) Anybody know where to BUY an appropriate replacement?

You want to order the RD0194-1 from Polk at 1-800-377-7655. You should replace all 4 as the new tweeters sound much better.

If you find that you need the original silver dome while waiting or deciding to switch all of them out let us know here in the WTB. They go for around 20 bucks amongst the SDA bretheren. You will be happy with the silk replacements as Jesse stated.

Follow F1nut's post exactly.. you'll be happy you did. the silk dome replacement is smoother sounding.

Oh BTW if you look at my SDAs the RDO silk dome count is up to 16 now :).

More than I probably can afford to be swapping out the caps and resistors in once our season is over next week.
