What do you guys think about the XBox Live Marketplace putting up TV shows and movies in HD and SD?

I think this is the way things are going to be going in terms of entertainment for the future. Everything completely on demand. It will get more and more refined as time goes on.

It is the way of the future, and this is just the beginning.

For me its particularly exciting, having grown up in a Microsoft family. MS has been talking about this sort of media delivery for a long time and it is very cool to see it coming to life.

I agree. The only problem I have is the limited space on the 360 hard drive. Luckily, once you buy a show you own it and can delete it from the drive and redownload it whenever you want. Also the ability to start watching before the download is complete (buffering) is a must and I am glad they are implementing it.

Are they PC playable? Can you transfer them to a computer HD for storage?

I don't know for sure, but gut instinct screams "No!" at me due to the potential of "sharing" the file with 10000 of your "friends".

Good point. If it's a proprietary format, it would still be good to be able to store the file on a PC drive to build up a library...

It's all compatible with Windows Media Edition. I have no idea about other versions. Don't care. Plenty of storage room on the 360 HD.
