I’m looking at two CD players. One is “new” CD player Cambridge Audio Azur 640C v2 and the other is “used” CD/DVD universal Denon 2900. The two units are about the same price. My question is which one should I consider? Will be using the player for mostly music.

Thanks for your input.

I have the Denon 2900--great for SACD and DVD; lacking in redbook CD. Never heard the Cambridge. I would imagine this will come down to whether you need universal player capabilities.

I have the 2900 and love it. It is a bit dated as far as no HDMI and no HD up converting. Never tried redbook cd's in it so I really can't comment.

The 640c is a straight up CD player not a universal. The 2900 as a dvd player is excellent and the same can be said as a music CD player. It was $1000.00 new.

I've heard both; the 2900 is warmer sounding, the Cambridge a little more neutral. Either is a good choice.

I've got a 640H(the 640C w/music server), and it sounds very good. The neutrality of the CA and the Bryston are very good for music, unless you like something added.

I love my 2900 - no layer change pause in DVD's baby! Best feature IMO, plus menu navigation is lightning fast.

Oh, the sound is good too :)
