What say the forum? Saw one on audiogon. One to consider or are there better HT receivers in this price range?. I want one that can handle both movies and music.

That is a very subjective question, for the money I think it is the best thing out there. It does a great job for both, I use mine as a pre/pro. Remember that is last years model, the new one is the 84.

Were there are any significant upgrades in the new model?

Nope, not really.

The main thing is Foroudja upscaling which I don't want. I'd rather have the player or my display do that.

They got rid of the Burr Brown DAC's with the 84 which is a downgrade in my book.
