I'm making settlement on my new home today and am chomping at the bit to get my 2 ch rig up and running and playing music.
About three weeks ago I slowly woke up my Spectral preamp with a variac and was very sucessful. My 1.2 TLs have not been used in a long long while. The seller I purchased them from was the original owner and told me that there were under 100 hours of playing time on the speakers since he purchased them new.
My questions are, is it necessary to slowy wake them up?, are there any precautions I should take before/during firing them up?
If the answer is YES, do you have any suggestions on how I should accomplish this task?
Thanks,
Joe:)

Don't clip your amp. Other than that - play it loud and proud.

I wouldn't take any chances. Hook them up and use them gently for 20 hrs or so. It gives the crossovers and drivers a chance to realign and settle.
Then ROCK OUT!!!

1.2 TL's...if you have the right amp (lots of juice) there's no way you'll get close to damaging them...and still be able to stay in the room :)

Yes, if they have been in storage for a while you need to inspect the drivers, just look for anything out of place, if nothing pops out at you put some power to them but hold it down a bit give them a few hours to work, if no probelms it would seem you are good to go, just do not hook them up and immediately put alot of juice to them.

Rub them gently on the PR until you see some arousal in the drivers--then, shoot the juice to 'em, Bruce! :D

Oooh! That sounds nasty!:D
Yep, just turn them on, keep the volume to a respectable level for a while. After a little while, let 'em roll! If there is a problem with the speakers, it should show up right away.

As I wrote in another thread, they are facing each other at the foot of my bed, every time I pass by them I caress them with love. . . my wife caught me a few times and hit the ceiling saying, "you touch them more gently then you do me!!!" Sometimes, I think I do!!!:D
