Would Magnavox count? Have a really old Magnavox 19"....survived the years of usage, being moved from house to house, and being used in a garage. Still providing wonderful images when I am on the treadmill.

Philips makes very good TVs. Philips is one of the largest CE companies in the world. Their US CE division used to be located in our town until they consolidated in Atlanta. Several of their execs were clients of mine. I got to see how they opperated and was impressed with the co. I've owned a couple and currently have one in my living room. It is a very good TV with no problems and the others were given away when we upgraded (technology) and to my knowledge are still working fine.

I don't really want to be the downer guy, but I'd rank them as one of the poorer quality tv's around from a PQ standpoint.

I have a 27" Flatscreen in my bedroom for about 2-3+ yrs..

Never a problem...outstanding PQ, sound and features..

I am very happy with it...it is catching up on the Toshiba in age and will probably outlast it...I`m sure it will as the toshiba is starting to F up

Mine is a 2-3 year old 27" flatscreen as well. I agree with bear on the PQ. At the time we compared it to Sonys, Pannys and Toshibas and it was the equal of all of them.

Well, I don't know about what some of our "experts" have experienced with their's or should I say their showroom's Philips tvs, but I've had nothing but great luck with my 30" WS HD tube tv. It's going on it's fourth year and does a tremendous job with SD broadcasts and an outstanding job when fed an HD signal or a progressive signal from a dvdp. If they made a 38" or larger HD WS tube, I'd consider another one, but they don't so I bought a Westinghouse 37" flat panel HDTV.

For the money, they are hard to beat, but as always...YMMV.

HT, get one with 1080p. Period. Why buy a set that can't produce the best possible picture? 1080p performance isn't readily available, nothing is currently broadcast in 1080p, and I don't fully understand all this stuff myself, but it is the next coming standard. I do know that it will be most useful once the whole HD-DVD player deals become more affordable and more commonplace.

My cable box does 1080i right now.

If by "bought a Phillips tv" you mean "found myself in bed the next morning with several Peruvian dwarves, not all of whom could lay claim to the full spectrum of human appendages -- all while reeking of Breyer's Natural Vanilla Bean ice cream"

then yes...

yes I have

The Mits has a nice picture. I haven't seen any of the Panasonic LCD PJ's for a couple of models years. The older ones had terrible motion lag. DLP usually has better black levels.
