That was one of the best car commercials EVER !
I have a feeling that Ford made it, than backed off from airing it for fear of offending someone.
Too bad, because that is marketing at its best.

I don't know about "offending" someone, but they were probably worried about sending some kind of bad message about speeding or something.

Very cool - I am surprised they didn't use one of the police chargers and show the mustang pulling away from it....
Still a fun ad.

... Probably because the Hertz special Shelby Mustang (which is what that appears to be with the pin-down hood and hallmark gold cladding on black with a bare grille) can't pull away from a 6.1 Hemi Charger.

I remember reading somewhere some time ago that Ford is offering some special version of the Mustang that looks just like the Hertz 'Stang, but I'm not sure if it has any of the performance upgrades.
And this is all real hazy as I'm recalling it, so I may be totally wrong.

Well, I just watched it again...and even if what I said is true...the one in the commercial is the GT-H.

the one in the commercials is the GT-H - .... yes ... which is what ford made (in the 60-s and now again) for only Hertz --- as special program rentals for key market cities to inspire hype for the brand. They're outfitted and then repainted by Shelby. I believe they made 60 this time... I'm not sure though.

Not sure about the numbers, but yes...I read about them in Motor Trend and Car & Driver.
I especially liked the stories of folks rengint them back in the day and putting in a role cage to drag race them...or doing an engine swap and returning the GT-H with some ol' anemic engine.

compared to what was in there, a 351 would be considered anemic!!!!

I believe they are offering a "Shelby GT" that is a little different from the GT-H.

Not much can under $40,000!

I own a Daytona and I am here to tell you - you won't find an SRT (6.1 liter Charger) for under $40,000. Average price is closer to $45,000.
32-35 is closer to Daytona pricing.

The base on the Dodge website is $35,900. $38,000 after destination and all that.
Im sure fully loaded its well over $40K but I bet I could still get one for $38K.

The new Charger sucks.
However, put me on the waiting list for the new Challenger.

Thuggy did you get a new suspension system for your mustang or did you stay with the original. If you did please give me a link to it.
