Monitor 40's has 2 positives and 2 negatives?

I've had my Monitor 40's for a while now, and I forgot why are there two connections on the back of the speakers? (2 Reds, 2 blacks)

Top set for highs, bottom set for lows, connected together with brass straps to enable one speaker wire to be used.

Those 40's will grow on you. Give them some break-in hours, than crank them up and blow the carbon out. :)
