I just bought a HK Signature 2.1 amp to get me started into the seperates world. It is rated at a 100wpc at 8 ohms. My questions are.

Do you think I should Bi-amp my mains and use the 5th channel for the center and run the Surrounds off the AVR or use the amp to power all the speakers?

And is there a way that I can get my AVR to turn on the amp directly or via my power conditioner. My AVR has a remote out but I think it is for linking other Yamaha components to it and controlling them with the AVR remote? Both the amp and the power conditioner have 12v triggers.

Thanks

KISS no offense.. but i would not bi amp.. I'd use the amp to power all your channels. keep the AVR as a pre amp only duty. Best sound that way.

How does your new set up sound adding the HK amp?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Still awaiting the new( to me )amp to arrive. It should arrive tomorrow. I will definitely try running the amp both ways. I still have the question about turning it on with my AVR or power conditioner.

I received the amp today. It came packaged like new and is in new like condition. Seems very well built. I hooked it up with all 5 channels as designed for 5.1. I have not had a real chance to listen to it yet but it seems very bright. But there seems to be more detail for the one DVD that I listened to for about 4 minutes. I listened to about a half of, 4 songs and the sound stage seems much wider than my AVR.

I guess time will tell.

That's interesting. I would have guessed that it sound warm because others mentioned the HK is a warm sounding amp.

it may take a little time getting used to the new sound. But if it's to bright.. then it will fatigue your ears.. and that sucks. What speakers do you have as fronts hooked up to the HK?

*update.. ok I saw your sig.. you are running RTi10's. Cool. They should not be to bright of a speaker. Maybe you need to adjust the toe in on your fronts.. that will affect the sound too. What interconnects are you using from your AVR to the HK amp?

I think as you listen to the amp more.. you'll get used to the sound.. and will come to really enjoy the increased detail and clairity. Hope so anyways. give it some time and listen to more music.

I still have not had much of a chance to demo my new amp but hopefully this weekend I can spend some time demo-ing.

New updated picture because the System Showcase area will not accept my pictures for some reason.

My wife and I were watching TV last night and she said she could tell a difference and she did not think that the amp would make a difference. That's a +1 for the WAF.
