Has anyone experienced audio theft ? a guy down the road from me has he took his jeep in for repair,it was left out and thives struck. He lost $2000 worth of kicker subs and amps and etc... Well he probley was asking for it he had huge kicker logo decals... that took almost all of his back window of his jeep. I too have a decal but its like 3 inchs long not 3 ft im never to far from my car when im out in stores. Call me paranoid, but im just wise plus i'm a believer that i'll get to them before they get to my equiptment..:)

Thats too bad for your neighbor! Get an alarm, lojack or something. You don't want to go out there w/guns blazin! You might do 20-life reguardless of who jacked who...atleast here in WA!

You might as well put a 3 inch sticker on it that says "GANK ME".

doesn't matter. Either way, he could have a gun. Just don't be foolish. Leave the sticker. Just buy an alarm...a 2-way.

Don't ask how I know this ;) , but, the cars that are at highest risk of getting broke into are cars that have any kind of exterior modifications and are parked in apartment complexes which have close proximity to highway access.

If exterior modifications are there (ie, body panels, tint, audio stickers) then there is a high chance of interior modifications. People who live in apartment complexes are used to false car alarms going off all the time, so when they hear one, its no big deal. Complexes close to the highway makes it easy to hit a whole string of them in one night.

Probably the easiest way to avoid it is to go for as stock looking install as possible and when you roll into a parking lot don't be blasting music with the windows down. It'll attract all the wrong kind of attention, especially if you're driving something modified and easily picked out. I see it all the time where people are shocked that their car got popped in the 15 mins they were in the mall. Stickers are just advertisments to help the thieves pick out a nice system.

I don't have anything fancy... just a cheapo head-unit and some factory speaks. But everything I had was ganked right in front of my residence last year. Didn't even noticed until I put the keys in the ignition and happened to see all the broken glass on the inside.

Dumb-ass left about 100 cd's in the back... I guess indie and punk wasn't to his liking. Gotta love the city.

I believe ya polkthug apartments are plain bad, you dont even need a sticker to have thieves strike your car. Some just tour the lot looking in windows seeing what people have and everyone knows police can't locate stolen stuff but can tell you where krispy kreme is .....had to add that..lol

I'm looking forward to not having to leave my car in a mall parking lot all day when I'm at work. Maybe I'm too paranoid, but parking at a mall all day I just expect to walk out and see a window or two popped. The new job will let me park in a spot where I can see it all day from the window at my desk. :p

A. Stealth install.

2. Alarm.

D. Don't roll up blasting everywhere you go.

Cheers,
Russ

*Any car I've ever had any system in, the det. headunit was removed, and the box (with amp attached - I know I know...) before it sat at ANY shop for repair.*

an alarm is like anit-virus software...there is always someone smarter out there!

Granted- it keeps the H.S. kids out...or keeps it too just a smash and grab

system in the Hoe was total stealth- except you could see the monitors and the hu.

thats why they did not get th 5 amps that were in there. what a dummy!

Agreed, but usually the ones that are smart enough to get past one are smart enough to know that theres a lot of other cars that dont have alarms.

We had a guy come in a couple months ago that had problems with his alarm false triggering and such. Wanted to know how good a job they did. I was able to disable it after getting into the vehicle in about 10 seconds and he never got a page on his 2-way system...

If your shit is REALLY custom and you're cool with the people around you, nobody will break into it cause everyone knows that it's your shit... idunno though this might only apply to the more ethnically diverse neighborhoods... dunno if it works in suburbia...

If your ride's really tricked out they avoid it... more likely that someone will recognize what they took and more likely it's got a high end alarm...
