My B&K avp 1030 is effin' up. Two nights ago I was watching the new Pirates of the Carribbean. Great movie IMO... Everythings was ok. Went to bed, woke up the next morning and no dice... After power up I went to turn up the volume it sounded like popcorn popping at 115 dbl...Orvile would have been proud. The popping happend when turning up and down.

Things I have tried to inspect:

I disconnected all connections rca and speaker wire..reinstalled.... no dice

took cover off B&K everything LOOKS ok. fuse IS ok

used a different amp....no dice....

called B&K all they said to check was factory reset in program menu...no dice...

ANY IDEAS????

Does it seem to be located (or localized) to the volume control? (i.e. turning it up or down?) If so, you can get some Caig contact cleaner from a local music store (guitar center carries it) and spray that into the space beween your volume knob and the front of your pre. (if you can open up the pre and spray it directly into the POT that would be better)

It is not expensive and would be worth a shot anyway.

Please, I will have to go home tonight and just look at at and ask it why it dosen't feel good. And the same thing will happen...it just keeps looking back at me! ( I hope it will not start talking) AHHH who knows, That might make it all feel better.

Did B&K not give you the option of letting them fix it?

I sent the 505 in for service and they upgraded everything hardware and software to the latest and greatest in a very quick turn around.

What was the cost? I know it might not be the same....I like mine the way it is...Well when it was working. I was wondering if it was something I might be able to fix myself. This might be my only option though.

i am having a problem with my Outlaw Audio 990 pre amp right now myself.. my front right channel is cutting in and out pretty bad.. I have traced it back to the pre amp. so mine may have to go in for service... not what I want to do. I hate shipping electronics.. esp heavy ones. Plus, I hate the down time too.
