Input on this speaker system?

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone has this speaker set up before I buy.

csi 5 center
rti 6 fronts
fxi 5 rears
fxi 5 side rears
psw 505 sub

This is what I plan on buying, I would be using a Pioneer Elite vsx59txi as my power house. I really would like to upgrade to the Lsi series but I would then need a 4ohm receiver. Any input?

That looks like a nice setup. If you're paying full price on the sub, you can probably do better for that amount of money - maybe check out SVS or HSU.

Yeah, change the sub.

If you really want the Lsi series and have the funds, then just do it. You'll need separate amplification for the fronts, at a minimum.

I agree about the sub. In that price range I would also strongly recommend a Martin Logan Dynamo, especially for music.

And I think your receiver would be able to drive LSi's. This subject has been beat to death here, but I feel a nice receiver like that will do fine--my Denon 3806 drove the LSi9's well. Granted, your not tapping into the full potential of the speakers, but it'll work.

I think it's a great setup, SUB included.

That set-up looks real nice. The 505's msrp is just under $590.00. For that much you have a few other choices but you'll probably be happy with the 505.

If space is not an issue I don't think you will regret RTi8's as your mains. Otherwise sounds like a great set up.

That is the only thing that is stopping me from purchasing the Lsi speakers, is that I want to make sure my Pioneer vsx59txi will handle all those 4ohm speakers. Here is my system if it does

Forget about powering Lsi's with a receiver unless you plan to get separate amps within a short period of time. Otherwise, you'll be wasting money.

Also, forget about the low end Velodyne subs. If you're not going to go with a Hsu or SVS or something similar, then you may as well stick with the 505.

I guess I should stick to my original speaker plan then. It looks like it's the best I can get except for going with the Lsi speakers. It's just too bad, because the Lsi's really kick ass.

If you like the LSi's better and assuming your receiver has pre-outs then why not just get a two channel amp to drive the mains and use the receiver to drive the rest ...

Later you can upgrade to a multi-channel amp if desired and then to a preamp to replace the receiver.

I think you should get the LSi if you like them so much. I stand by my statement that your receiver (which is $3300 MSRP, 160W) will drive them, at least until you can get an amp. I have a buddy who is driving a full LSi 5.1 system with a Yamaha 2600. It doesn't go into protect mode and he hasn't had any problems. It doesn't sound as good as it could, but it works.

Get the LSi or you will always be second-guessing yourself!

Just a suggestion…………I would eliminate the fxi 5 side rears and use the $$ to upgrade to Rti8’s up front. Rti8’s would give you a lot better front end in HT application. You will not regret it. The floor standers up front for HT are huge difference from bookshelf speakers. Also, the 8’s would “fill up“ your listening area with fantastic soundstage. If you like music the 8’s are awesome. Rear Rti6’s are more than enough for rear HT “effects”.

I agree with upgrading the sub, but would do it later. Did have PSW505 sub originally. Don’t underestimate this sub. For the $$ it is not bad at all. Not close to SVS, HSU, ML……….etc……….. but not bad. The 505’s are a bit boomy, but good thunder with HT. In any case you will enjoy it!!!

Anyway, just my opinion.

Gator's right. That would sound awsome. I switched from towers to bookshelfs and was not happy. Now I am saving to switch back to towers (Lsi15s) and will be running at least a 2 channel amp for the fronts. The bookshelfs sound great, but lost that big sound stage the towers had.

I had a harman avr525 receiver running these impressive speakers. As you can see I has huge fronts but it seemed a little over kill considering my theater was used mainly for film. Thats why I thought this time I would use a very good bookshelf for my fronts, either the lsi's or the rt'6. Also it seemed I needed a bigger receiver to run these puppy's, hence the reason for the pioneer elite 59txi. The system I had was awesome, but I just want to upgrade to little bit better. I think you right if I don't get Lsi speakers I might regret it down the road. But I also wonder that if I got the best in The rti series, that it should also be a pretty damn good set up. Does anyone have the full line of the rti''s.

That's what i'm starting to think too, except for upgrading the sub. To me it looks like a wicked speaker system, especially with my pioneer 59txi as the powerhouse. AAAAAAAHHHH so many decisions.

HT with Rti8's is awesome. As I said you won't regret it. I have used rti8's and Rti6's as fronts even Lsi15's. The 8's delivere more what I want from HT.
