Hi Friends, when you talk about BI-AMP a speaker, that is with a "Y" cable from the amp to the two connections of the polk-speaker? Or is two amps with different cables to the same speaker?

Thanks.

Running 2 pairs of wires from one amplifier stage to the same speaker is called biwiring. Using 2 amplifiers to power one speaker is biamping.

Biamp= 2 amps running separate sets of wires to the 2 posts.

Biwire= 1 amp running separate wires or (Y speaker cable) to the 2 posts.

Edit sorry pblanc for the post on post.............same info though.

It is one preamp or receiver out split and amplified separately using two amps or two channels in the same amp to the top and bottom binding posts of a speaker with the jumpers on the speakers having been removed.

Ok, thank you to all.

I guess than:

a) BI-AMP is better than BI-wired, right?
b) Not is possible bi-amp and bi-wire and the same time, right?
c) The highs (up) or lows is the same to any amp or the most power amp is for high connections?

Thank you.

AND very important...what about the sound level (volume) in the two amps?

The volume is controlled by the output voltage of the preamp or receiver going into the amps. There can be some difference of input impedance between brands or types of amplifiers that might have the amps output raise at different rates, but it is minimal.

and Noticeable:D if done incorrectly.

There are a few HD receivers that allow channel 6 and 7 to be assigned to bi-amp the front speakers.

Not all speakers are bi-amp capable. Each speaker will require 4 binding posts: 2 for high frequency and 2 for low frequency.

Bi-amping is reported to sound better than bi wiring.

Ok, if my receiver show me 6 out to speakers and I only use 4 (no center and no back) can bi-amp withs this the fronts?

Ok, if my receiver show me 6 out to speakers and I only use 4 (no center and no back) can bi-amp withs this the fronts?I think only Arcam and one other company make HD receivers that can bi-amp. I wire the front right and left connections on my receiver to the low frequency speaker connections of my 3.1TL's and wire the surround back left and right receiver connections to the high frequency speakers connections on the 3.1TL's. I must also must program my receiver to bi-amp in the set up menu.

If you don't see a bi-amp option in your receiver's set up menu you can't bi-amp with it.

Can I bi-amp all the channels?
Can I bi-amp and bi-wired at the same time?
